Blue Creek — Lake Meredith National Recreation Area

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Stargazing and dog walking are the primary draws at Blue Creek, a free, first-come-first-served site tucked under a tall bridge along FM 1913 in Lake Meredith National Recreation Area. The creek bed is the designated off-road area, and campers without four-wheel drive should scout the route first, as the soil turns sandy and loose closer to the water. No drinking water is available on site. Pit toilets and trash containers are provided. One reviewer noted graffiti as an ongoing issue, and rain can make the creek bed access difficult or impassable. Dogs are welcome, and the site suits dog-friendly camping near Lake Meredith National Recreation Area at no cost. Chimney Hollow Dispersed Campground is a nearby alternative 2.4 miles southeast.

Simple Stop for the Night. Quiet

If you Don't have a 4x4 car then make sure to scout your route beforehand. As the paths go towards the river the soil becomes sandy and loose, and your car could get stuck.

This is a nice quiet place to park for the night although I bet it gets pretty busy at certain times of the year. If you don't mind driving a few minutes away from the main road this spot will let you stargaze and walk your dog.

This will be found under a tall bridge. Great spot for the family but please leave the spray paint at home. Be careful if it has rained or is raining.
