Savage Station Campground sits within Savage Gulf State Park in Beersheba Springs, Tennessee, accessible only by foot on a route the park flags as rough. No pets are permitted. Drinking water is available on-site, and reservations can be made in advance. Campers prepared for a demanding approach and a no-frills backcountry setup will find this a workable base for exploring the gulf's trail network.
Description
Savage Gulf offers over 70 backcountry campsites across the park. A Permit must be obtained through the park for all backcountry hiking. Coordinates listed on The Dyrt are reflective of park entrance and not the trailhead. Savage Station Campground offers seven campsites with a maximum occupancy of six per campsite and one group campsite with a maximum occupancy of 30.
This backcountry campground can be accessed from the Savage Gulf East overnight parking lot. All campsites are located a few hundred yards from the parking lot. Potable water is available at the campground entrance.
