We came to this magical place to found a self-reliant, intentional eco-community when I retired from corporate life in 2006. It's called the Village on Sewanee Creek, named after the creek 800 feet below the bluff where we are located. There are now a dozen homesteads here and a small thriving community. Access to waterfalls abound!!

I traveled the world as a senior executive for Baskin-Robbins, Dunkin' Donuts, Papa Johns, Blockbuster, 7-Eleven and other retail franchises, making the world safe for Pizza, Ice Cream, Pancakes Video Rentals and American convenience. And I was ready for something more fufilling. I scouted for a place of exquisite natural beauty and I found it here. I bought way too much land just before the real estate bust and learned how to turn a nice fortune into a very small one.

I faced challenges and had lots of fun. Now I want to share our experience. It's the Village 2.0 for guests. Who knows, you may decide to stay. Or not. Life in the city is OK as long as you can get away frequently.

I'm convinced if you love nature and the outdoors, this is the best place to celebrate it.

Backwoods camping with all of the amenities

Our trip was so peaceful and so much fun. I asked off from work specifically to go camping on St. Patrick’s day weekend and even though the site wasn’t open for the season yet Grant allowed us to come stay anyway. We usually backpack but with the below freezing temps we decided on drive up camping. This was basically luxury camping for our crew. Grant and Becky provided so much more than expected! They are truly amazing people and they’ve got such a great thing going on out there. The waterfall will not disappoint! We’ll be back to check out that glamper soon enough!

Unique stay in a beautiful forest

Ashley here with The Dyrt. It was so good to work with Grant to get his gorgeous property on our platform. I love how unique this stay is, the community kitchen,  and there's plenty to explore on and near the property. Book your stay today and leave them some love!
