    Close to marina

Close to the marina it's a hard walk uphill both ways to the bathroom but they are very nice and well kept. Big open areas for children to play overall very good state park campground

    Nice spot on the water

A few sites at a boat launch area.

One large site before the main turnaround point and a couple by the water.

    Not a ton of space.

4x4 or awd may come in handy leaving the sites (going back up the gravel hill)

Beautiful Modern Campground with lots of activities

Piney Campground is part of the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. It is wildly popular among locals and travelers alike. Lots to do for kids - bike paths, basketball court, multiple playgrounds, etc. Beautiful views of Kentucky Lake/Tennessee River, nice campground store.

    Nice, quiet and clean

We stayed here in our tent. The lady who checked us in was exceptionally nice and the campsites were clean quiet and shady. The restrooms were spick and span. We would certainly stay here again.

One night and a trip to texas

Great place to camp. Would have liked to stay longer. With my senior lifetime pass it only costs $5 there was firewood already available to burn.

    Best camping trip ever

For my first time camping and first time at piney I felt as if I was at home and so friendly and the store was clean and the camping sites were absolutely beautiful and the general appearance was overall good

    We’ll be back!

4.5 Rounded up. Restrooms and showers were clean. It was very active during one of the last weekends of the season. While quiet hours were observed, there was a lot of music, celebrating a Tennessee win with a golf cart parade and victorious choral singing of Rocky Top right up until 11pm. Beautiful lake views, good camp store and great amenities.

    First come first serve

It is basically a gravel parking lot. We had to take use the electricity from the site behind us because ours wasn’t grounded.

I had really good time staying there

I really enjoyed my stay there. I rented their RV which was very nice, clean and everything was working in it. I met one of the owners - wonderful, very pleasant person. There were places to walk around, roads and trails, that one can walk to right out of the campground without driving.

    Rushing Creek

    PERMANENTLY CLOSED Dispersed Camping only

Campground has been gated and locked for several years, and as the previous reviewer noted, not a great place to stay. There are NO AMENITIES, NO POTABLE WATER and not accessible by vehicle... you either hike or boat in.  The campground is still open for dispersed camping, which does require its own permit, purchased either on-line or at one of the visitor centers.

    Beautiful busy site

Got here early Friday and was already quite full. By 8 pm the air was full of the smell of camp fires and bbqs and yet was still nice and quiet at our rv.

Amazing family atmosphere made to feel welcome by staff and other guests. Perfect weekend start

    Gorgeous Primitive Campground

Leaving the paved road with our 27' Airstream, I felt like this road may be a long one way trip! But then it opened to a very nice campground. Very simple, one clean bathroom, one dumpster, no showers, no water, no electric. But we didn't need it or want it. Just an overnight stay in a beautiful location. We chose site 31, at the top of the hill and with a view of the lake and sunset. I would not recommend others to put their 27' Airstream here, as it was quite tight for space. But it has an absolutely astounding view. We listened to the waves splash against the rocks below. It was peaceful and calm. Only one other camper here in March.

USFS needs to step it up

We came here in mid November 2021 and stayed for a week. I was disappointed with the campground. The bathrooms were clean, but are in bad need of updates, as are the shower facilities. Showers were luke warm, some had non-functioning heaters in them, and a lot of rust and broken shelving. The sites are level, but are not picked up routinely; we had to clean our site of discarded bottle caps, hygiene items, etc. when we arrived. The laundry facilities are outside- and some machines didn’t work. At one point (probably due to seasonal reasons) they removed all the washing machines. No notice posted. The views are nice, but the lake/river effect wind coming in during winter is punishing and forces you inside most of the time anyway. Trails on the property are overgrown, and the one loop by the ranger station has two bridges that look like they have been destroyed for years- no one is doing any maintenance on them. I expected to do some route finding due to fall, but this was really bad. The surrounding area makes up for it, nice things to see, lots of history, nice trails and mountain bike spots. But you have to drive about 40 minutes minimum from the campground to get to the MTB trails, and about the same to get to a town (Murray, Ky) that has everything. The USFS runs this place, and they seemed helpful, but they need to step it up in the maintenance department here. The playground for kids is missing swings, the trash in some receptacles is full. Furthermore; they have some long-term residents that have sites that look like they are running a swap meet out of them. I don’t think that should be allowed in a park like this.

    Piney Campground

Large campground with a lot of sites on the water!

This is a really nice campground that has sites you can reserve along with first come first serve sites. If you are staying near the end of October I would definitely call to see if they have any availability because they do a Halloween weekend where they give out prizes for decorating your campsite and for a decorated golf cart parade (see video). It was a nice little surprise but we got lucky, they only had 2 available sites left!  We were lucky enough to get a site that does not have water or electric but were able to move after the big weekend to a spot with those amenities.

The bathrooms were nice and kept clean. There are 4 shower rooms on the opposite side of the bathhouse that were nice enough and kept pretty clean. They also have laundry at 3 of the bathhouses. They only take quarters, the shop and the front don't keep a ton of quarters so I would suggest you bring some with you.

The area has plenty of outdoor activities to do and is also pretty close to Fort Donelson, a drive through experience of the battle during the Civil War.

    Boswell Landing Campground

    Local favorite

My to go to campground when in town. Real nice getaway and for 5 dollars with discount for America the Beautiful pass. Most of time almost empty except weekends. Can be a little noisy at times but scenery is great. Lots of trees for shade. Cell is only good on end of campground.

    Awesome Campground

Was greeted by friendly staff, splurged on a cabin and it was clean and comfortable. We didn’t have any neighbors and were located close to the showers and some horse stables (but far enough away from them so as to not smell horses the whole time lol). Great stay and would definitely recommend checking out this spot

    Amazing Location and Staff

A spectacular secluded location with great pull thru sites. Shaded. Lots of activities and possibilities for the whole family. Great patio sites as well. Every staff member we have met has been awesome and amazing.

    Piney Campground

    Great Lake getaway

With all the parking lot style RV parks popping up these days, it’s nice to find these older parks around from days when people liked trees and breathing room. Stayed in the full hookup sites of Dogwood Loop. Some sites are hard to back into and require much work to get level, but they are well spaced out and large sites. Bath houses are a bit dated, but that is to be expected from older parks like this. Two boat ramps for those who bring boats. Plenty of sites close to water. Not many full hookup sites, but tons of sites with power and no water. 100% worth staying here is you are gonna visit LBL sites.

    L.B.L. Whispering Pines Campground

    Bad choice

This property has seen better days. The cabins are very rustic and very close together. The RV sites are taken by full time residents and it has more of a trailer park vibe. I would not stay there again as there are better choices right down the road.
