Stickney City Park

Ten miles south of Interstate 90, Stickney City Park sits within the small town of Stickney, offering a convenient overnight stop for travelers crossing South Dakota. The campground operates on city park grounds alongside recreational facilities including a swimming pool, playground, and sports courts.

Six camping sites provide electric hookups with varying configurations. Two shorter sites accommodate cars and vans with 30-amp service, while four larger sites handle big rigs with 50/30/20-amp electrical boxes. All sites include fire rings with firewood available on-site. Water access requires a longer hose, as the spigot sits at some distance from the camping areas. Restrooms and showers are located at the swimming pool building, though reviewers note the shower facilities show their age.

"Spots are mostly level - we didn't even have to unhook from our hitch," reports one camper with a 15-foot travel trailer. The campground charges $20 per night on a first-come, first-served basis. Most visitors find themselves alone or sharing the space with just one other party, particularly on weeknights. For additional overnight options, campers can explore camping near Mitchell or check nearby Hills RV Park eight miles north.

The well-maintained grounds sit directly across from a football field and track. A local diner within walking distance serves ice cream and classic fare for those seeking a meal off the camp stove.

Many campers appreciated the clean, level sites with reliable electric hookups and excellent family amenities like playgrounds and sports facilities. Most found the $15-20 nightly rate exceptional value for the convenient location just off I-90.

Small Town City Park

Nice quiet place. There are six sites. There are two short sites suitable for cars/vans and four bigger sites suitable for large rigs. There is water and electricity at each site. There is a restroom and showers located at the swimming pool. $20 per night. No dump station.

Overnight stay

We needed a place to stay overnight while we were passing through. This area is open, has bathroom and showers, it also has volleyball courts and possibly other recreational activities. It has electric hook up and fire rings. We were the only ones here overnight on a Saturday during Labor Day weekend.

Quiet City Park

Needed a quick night's stay to break up a long drive, and this was the perfect spot. We ended up being the only campers overnight. Spots are mostly level -we didn't even have to unhook from our hitch(we have a 15' travel trailer on a 2" ball), all we did was throw stabilizers down. Access to city park amenities: kids' playground, pool(which was not open while we were here unfortunately), volleyball court & tennis courts. There is also firewood available as well as fire rings. On-site bathrooms were adequate, and showers were usable but not in the best condition. Overall great stay, especially for the $20 a night.

Great stop over site.

I was here on a Wednesday night. Only one other person here. Very quite location. They have 2 sites that offer 30-20 amp service and short pads. 3 sites have 50-30-20 amp boxes. Well mowed, no litter. Right next to town.

Pleasant

Easy to locate. Turn into city park. Five total campsites. The first two are in the right, directly on the road into park. The other three are further down on left. They are a larger area. Directly across from a football field and track. It is a suggested $20 a night.

Nice spot but now paid

The spot is very clean and well kept. There was a fire pit with firewood and starter. However this spot is no longer free, it is $15/night. Still a very good deal for the location.

Great little spot

This was a perfect spot about 10 miles south of I-90. There are only two back in rv sites about 35’ long, they each have 30amp. There’s a water spout but it’s a little far from the spots...a 50’ hose might work to fill up. A diner is within walking distance, it’s super quaint with delicious ice cream and fries! This is a great location for an overnight spot.
