    Fantastic quiet get away

We stayed in the new glamping cabin #2. Very clean, comfortable bed, nice AC, lovely porch to relax on. All cabins are in walking distance to the bathrooms and showers. Those as well were pretty clean for a camp ground, I was pleasantly surprised. The path to the bathrooms light up at night so you can find your way very easy in the dark. Camp ground itself was very clean and I often saw the staff working on cleaning it and interacting with the campers. The designated swimming area was like a piece of heaven. Small not to overly packed, very clean beach. We plan on coming pack to do tent camping with our dog, fantastic family or romantic couple retreat.

    Beautiful county park

What a beautiful park. The sites have full Hook up. We where at site 50 and it was completely shaded. They where still under major construction redoing the beach and boat docks. But we still really enjoyed this park. Super close to town to get supplies and dinner.

    Happy New Year

This seven day stay was our first at this park. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the park. Even with part of the park under construction, this did not impact our stay.

The bath house was clean. The men's side gave every appearance of being well maintained. The women's side also gave this appearance and was fully functional with plenty of hot water and good pressure.

The gravel roads in the part are well maintained and our camping spot, number 25, was easy to back into.

The negatives about this camp ground could be seen as minor but bear listing. First of all we were given an incorrect gate code for after 6 PM entry. Our camp site was damp when we pulled in and the volume of rain that fell during our stay caused a small river to run through the site. Even two days after the rain, the hookup side of the site was mostly under puddles of water.

We live nearby so this is a nice little place to camp at. Nice sites, close to places to eat. Bathhouse was clean and well kept. We went around Halloween and they had trick-or-treating around the park as well as prizes for the best decorated.

Outstanding county park - overnight or weekend

We stayed here in June 2021 as an overnight stay and we wished we could have stayed longer. The price was amazing! The full hook up sites were very clean and we felt good being so secure with the gate and rangers. We did take some time to walk along the beach and the park.

    Meh

    Overall: 2.5-3

    Bathrooms: 2

County park that offers 67 campsites. Offered bathroom with showers (2 locations only), water and electric hookup, sewer hookup, fire pit, picnic table, boat ramps, and playground. We had spot 9 which was an end spot that was roomy for our teardrop trailer (T@G XL). This spot was closer to the water but not in wooded area. Many spots were in an open field with the RVs on top of one another. Other spots were in more of a wooded area but they were close together.

Campground was good if you were into fishing. Many campers had their boats plus in early morning trucks were trailering their boats to place in the lake.

There were no trails to explore at the campground. Does offer swimming in the lake starting around Memorial Day. Not much else to do unless you were going to fish for bass or other fresh water fish.

Bathrooms: One set for campground (67 sites) and another by the marina. Very outdated, dingy, and dark. Women’s - stall was out of order, some didn’t lock, in evening - messy - papers and other garbage on floors. Showers were the darkest area of the bathroom - icky looking. Woman who had just used it said only the last one really worked. Mens - shower handle was broken, did have hot water but were icky and run down.

Overall - convenient for a stop over - near highway, good access to lake for fishing.

    Very nice park

We stayed at the park a couple of times. It’s a very nice county park with full hook ups. They are doing construction right now redoing the boat docks, beach and playgrounds area. It will be very nice when done. Some sites are a little small and some are not very level but if you call the campground hosts and rangers are very helpful in helping you get on the right sight.

    nice in the summer

We live close so this is usually our summer go to for an over night. we like to swim and fish. Ithas a nice playground for kids. it is pet friendly. I prefer to stay on the wooded side. We tent camp and like that every site has electric and water. The camp store doesn’t really have much so we bring everything with us. there is a nice gas station less than a mile away we get coffee from there in the mornings.

Meh... A reasonably priced lot of Meh

Needed more leveling than I had, and I have a lot... the fire ring was full of ash and burnt logs. Power connections were so low to the found had to kneel to see and read breakers.

Showers were... well, they were wet...

All the fishing areas are closed due to COVID

But you can socialize everywhere else...

Like I said, for the money, meh.

    public park

stayed here for 3 nights.my spot was in the woods  tight spot for  42 ft  trailer and no area next to the camper to sit unless you want to fall back from the steep grade .

lake was very pretty and very busy . if you don't own a boat there is not much to do. I.  thought it was very noisy and crowded.

We were passing through for a trade show and picked the spot as it was 15 min from our event. Great place. Clean, well designed and maintained. The adjacent amusement park is closed due to Covid but i bet it is a blast to stay here when it is open. Wooded perimeter so you feel you are away from the city. Drawbacks: very few- we were invaded by ants but they came and went( could happen anywhere), the roads between the sites we a bit tight- it did not effect us as the park was not full but it could be a problem in peak season.

    Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort

    Basic Parking Lot Campground

We stayed here on our way North to head home. It's in a decent location, the sites are level with full hook ups. The nighttime noise was bothersome, not sure where it was coming from, likely outside the campground. We didn't do the amusement park because of Covid and being almost below freezing. Maybe if we had, it would have been more appealing?

Well kept and close to the park!

You can purchase Carowinds tickets right here and ride a shuttle all day long to the park rather than fight traffic. They enforce the rules really well so quiet time is actually just that. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Cabelas, Walmart, and other shopping is nearby for supplies as well as a few restaurants. We would stay a bunch because of our season passes at Carowinds.
