Mr. Fuel Travel Center — Summerville

This travel center provides overnight parking just off the main corridors feeding I-26, with a wide, open lot and decent lighting for RVs and trucks. The facility features standard travel center amenities including restrooms, showers, a dump station, and WiFi, plus an embedded McDonald's for quick meals. Commercial traffic moves through at all hours, creating steady truck activity and highway noise that never fully quiets, though conditions feel calmer when positioned farther from the fuel pumps on more level ground.

The atmosphere centers on functionality rather than recreation, with predictable late-night semi activity and the constant hum of nearby interstate traffic. Families may find the heavy commercial traffic and noise challenging for overnight stays. For those exploring the area, campgrounds near Summerville offer quieter alternatives with more traditional camping amenities.

Not Ideal For Families

This Mr. Fuel Travel Center in Summerville sits just off the main travel corridors feeding I26, making it an EZ in-and-out stop for an overnight when you’re threading your way through the Charleston metro area, with a wide, open lot, decent lighting, an imbedded McD's and enough space to tuck farther from the pumps where things feel calmer and more level. The atmosphere is very much 'working travel center' rather than cozy campground, but it felt safe enough for a quick family stop, with steady lighting, predictable late-night truck activity, and the hum of highway noise that never fully goes quiet, though it does fade once you’re settled. We grabbed an easy dinner at Page's Okra Grill nearby, letting the boys eat fried green tomatoes for the first time after which we stretched our legs and talked about the next day’s drive before heading back to the rig for a simple movie night and early lights-out. This spot isn't ideal for families as a short overnight because of all the big rigs, semis and 18-wheelers coming through this place at all hours of the day and night, so while it wasn't a fit for us, if you are a family, I'd recommend another place that is quieter, has more amenities and isn't so busy with commercial traffic coming and going non-stop.
