Reservations are available at Lake Aire RV Park, a private campground in the Hollywood area southwest of Charleston that accommodates RVs up to 50 feet with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer. Drive-in access keeps arrival straightforward, and the staff draws consistent praise for helpful check-ins and local recommendations, including dog-friendly parks in the area. Pets are welcome here. The campground sits among multiple ponds, and the surrounding landscape runs to grass and mature trees, with Muscovy ducks that have become fixtures along the water's edge, tame enough to follow campers around.
The amenity list is substantial for the price point. Facilities include clean bathrooms, showers, a swimming pool, a laundry room, two playgrounds, and a pavilion with horseshoe pits and cornhole. The pool runs small and draws families, but reviewers note it stays clean and has a social atmosphere. Amber M. describes the tent sites as "very nice," available with or without electric. Cell service gets mixed marks depending on carrier, with AT&T and Verizon users reporting good coverage while others find it spotty. The WiFi signal does not always reach the tent camping area.
A few recurring caveats are worth knowing before arrival. Tent sites sit at a lower elevation and can collect standing water after rain. One reviewer noted biting red ants and an overnight sodium light near their site. Shower hot water has been described as intermittent, and at least one shared water spigot was reported out of service. The campground also draws long-term residents alongside short-stay campers, which shapes the overall atmosphere. Lawrence Robert T. sums up the layout simply: "lots of water around and some trees."
Lake Aire sits within reach of Oak Plantation Campground for campers who want to compare nearby private options, and the Charleston area is roughly 20 minutes away by car, making this a workable base for day trips into the city or out to the Edisto beaches. Those looking at campsites near Johns Island will find Lake Aire among the more full-featured private options in the corridor. The campground makes the most sense for RV travelers wanting full hookups and a range of on-site facilities without paying city-area rates, and for tent campers who can secure a site away from low-lying ground.
