Walmart — Philadelphia Store

On the northwestern edge of Philadelphia, this Walmart parking lot sits in a heavily trafficked commercial area where asphalt, yellow parking stripes, and retail activity define the surroundings. The single review on record rates safety at zero and describes the lot as active with street vendors and consistent vehicle and foot traffic. Cop cruisers and surveillance cameras are present. Campers who need a flat, paved overnight stop near campsites near Cheltenham may want to weigh those options before committing to this location.

Third World Parking Pavement @ Its Worst

I guess if you are looking for a flat piece of pavement to call home for the night, you could do worse (but only barely). But, let's be honest, you REALLY could most certainly be doing better, right? Here at Walmart on the northwestern edge of Philly, you’ll be greeted in this particular asphalt flatland by, sure, plenty of yellow stripes, that would otherwise have you parked perfectly fit into the space(s) provided. That said, if you have the opportunity here, five lines in to this particular review, have the opportunity to flee this specific lands-watch of utter mayhem, I would encourage you to do so.

This is, unless, your idea of a great flat pavement in a retail commercial mall to call home for the night in an otherwise completely unsafe (although all of the cop cruisers and satellite cameras hopefully create an atmosphere of safety and tranquility would caution you otherwise) and heavily trafficked parking lot, is your version of ‘home sweet home.’ So, on the upside, should you choose to ‘anchor’ here for the night, you will be completely overwhelmed by the sheer number of ‘street hawkers’ walking, strolling and otherwise pitching you their wears – and don’t get me wrong, while I enjoy nothing more that the opportunity to purchase deep fried Colombian arepas, alongside used rubber tires as well as fresh-caught seafood, all in one place, then WOW, you have hit the market place of a lifetime!

I only have one STRONG bit of advice - don't come here.

While scoring criteria may vary from one person to the next, here are the 5 most important criteria that informed my rating of this overnight location: convenience (EZ on- and off-access), safety & security, quality (of facilities), peace & quiet and amenities (either on-site or nearby). Here’s how I ranked this particular overnight spot:

Convenience: 1

Safety & Security: 0

Quality: 0

Peace& Quiet: 1

Amenities: 2

Overall, I scored this location a 1.

Happy Overnighting!
