Best Tent Camping near Union Dale, PA

Beautifully maintained park. Great sites. Clean bath houses. Great hiking spot. We tent camped in November so it very very cold.

I chose this campground because the photos of the pool/splash pad looked fun. It turns out the tent site we had was the most wooded and cozy site we have camped in all year. So much room for tents/hammocks. Trees galore. The tent sites were right behind the athletic field where they did activities the weekend we were there (bounce house). The restrooms were fantastic too, the buildings held two complete rooms with a toilet sink and shower in each. It’s the only shower camping this year my 4yr old wasn’t afraid of because we had the whole room to ourselves.

All types of sites. Kayaking, tubing. Tent sites on river. Knee deep. Bring your chair and cooler. Sit in river, enjoy

Our family of four enjoyed the quiet of the tent camping area for two nights. There was plenty to keep our nature/loving kiddos engaged. Our only complaint was the lack of active enforcement of quiet hours — otherwise there would be no complaints.

Went tent camping for 3 nights, easy to get to, bathrooms were clean and so was the site. Sites were a good size and not on top of each other. Firewood was available in the area. But not much for stores so pack everything in before.

Campground has cabins and yurts, pull in sites for RV’s and strictly walk in tent sites. There is a beautiful lake and a very large pool. We went in early spring midweek, it was very quiet and exactly the get away we wanted.

Rickett's Glen itself has great camping and amenities with cool tent sites and also cabins and it's located next to gorgeous Lake Jean and the ever so fun waterfalls hike. Sullivan County as a whole has so much adventure and fun to offer!

My brother and I took our kids here a few years ago for tent camping in August. The campground wasn’t very crowded and the sites were a decent size, we easily put two tents on our site. The bathhouse we used was a bit lacking and not really big enough for the amount of people it needed to handle. Lots to do in the area if you do your research.

Stayed in a tent site. Wooded areas. Private and quiet. Great, challenging hiking trails with over 1000 feet elevation change. Beautiful views!! Lake is well maintained though no lifeguard was present. Bathrooms were cleaner during the morning hours as this state park gets VERY busy.

This is a fantastic campground! The tent sites are right on the creek. The grounds, the little store/coffee shop and the facilities were pristine. The owner and all the employees were as friendly as they were accommodating. I can't say enough good things. I'll definitely be back.

Ashley here from The Dyrt! It's been great working with this non-profit organization. They offer 4 private tent sites and 50 acres of scenic hiking trails. Campsites are spaced out, feel private, and offer all of the amenities (grill, chairs, picnic table). Restroom and hot water close by. Check them out and leave them some love!

I love this campground and have stayed there in both the summer and the Fall. We kayak on the lake ( our own kayaks, but at a beginner level). The Falls Trail is challenging and beautiful, especially in Autumn, and can also be accessed with appropriate ice gear during the Winter. We love to tent camp and choose campsites by the lake. It is a State Park; it’s clean; I feel safe. No alcohol.

this area is so beautiful. a ton to explore and a huge frisbee golf course. the inner loops have nice bathrooms. we were in the outer loop far from the rest of the campground and they only had ports potties and hand sanitizer. I wish we had been on the inner loop for the bathrooms, but we had a huge tent site that fit 4 tents on it. Hike to the waterfall, it is beautiful.

My dog and I stayed for 2 nights in the rustic tenting area. We were the only campers Wednesday & Thursday. The family camp area features spaces (small areas for either RV campers or tents and cars) with a picnic table and fire ring and water (some have electricity). They also have shared facilities such as bathrooms and showers. However, they seemed a little too cramped fir me and I wasn’t looking for opportunities to socialize, so the remote tent site was my choice. The tent sites do not have water or electric, but do have picnic tables, a fire ring and share one large outhouse with clean pit toilets. There are 5 sites and they can accommodate (shared) multiple tent set ups. Also you need to park your vehicle in a designated lot which is very close to the sites. There are multiple easy hiking and biking trails that are well marked. A lake for fishing and a small sandy beach with a picnic area for families (unfortunately no dogs are allowed on the beach). There are 2 boat launch areas (one for the campers, and another for gen. public) which also has a boat rental business (dogs are allowed). There are black bears in the park so do not leave food out and dispose of all trash in the appropriate dumpsters.

Camping at Chenango Valley State Park is always a great time. The park is very family friendly. It has numerous hiking and biking trails, two lakes (Lily and Kettle) and a 18-hole golf course for guests to enjoy. The grounds and bathrooms are very well maintained and the sites are level for those RV or tent camping. We enjoy the sites because they’re spacious and woodsy. They make you feel secluded, but are also a short drive from a brewery and the city of binghamton.

I love everything the campground and state park has to offer. Bolder field is a great way to spend the day, and the campground has a great price for the sites. Showers and bathrooms are close by to the basic tent campgrounds, and the sites are large and easy to set up.
