A working ranch doubles as a campground at Powder Creek, where level sites sit alongside a running stream and deer wander through the meadow on a regular basis. The property has a resident deer named Herbie, and wildlife sightings appear consistently across reviews. Sites are dry camping only, so there are no water or electrical hookups to expect.
The camping area is well-maintained and consistently described as clean, with porta-potties and waste bins kept in good condition. A stream runs directly behind the sites, and the Nestucca River is accessible on the property as well. "Explore the property, visit the animals or take a dip in the river," notes Ashley F. in her review. The camp store and available firewood mean fewer supply runs are necessary, and cell service is available on-site. WiFi is also listed as an amenity, which is worth confirming with the hosts before arrival.
Rates run $45 to $65 per night, and reservations are available. Pets are welcome. Campers who want more options in the surrounding area can look at Rocky Bend Group Campground to the east or Alder Glen Recreation Site further along the same direction, both within a few miles. Summer weekends can bring crowds, so booking ahead is advisable if visiting between June and August.
Description
Powder Creek Ranch is 362 acres, nestled into a valley, surrounded by forest in the Oregon Coast Range. The campground is in a secluded meadow next to Powder Creek, a pristine year round stream, perfect for wading and playing in.
Each of our 12 large campsites offers access to the creek, a picnic table and campfire ring. All sites accommodate RVs as well as tent camping.
One of the campsites is next to the beaver pond, where you're likely to see a variety of wildlife.
Our property also has 1/2 mile of Nestucca River frontage where you can swim or fish, whichever floats your boat. Niagara Creek/Pheasant Creek falls is a nearby hiking trail and there are deer and elk trails to explore all over the ranch. If you feel like venturing further, the beach is 23 miles away in Pacific City.
Powder Creek Ranch is also a working farm with cows, pigs, chickens and ducks and sometimes we have piglets and calves at the barn to visit.
We also offer pasture raised pork for sale. A variety of sausages (breakfast, chorizo, Italian, Bratwurst and Kielbasa), bacon (when available), pork chops and roasts.
