Quiet Mid-September

Beautiful early fall days at River Bend.

Midweek, Sunday - Thursday the campground was maybe 25% filled. It was quiet! Leaves were beginning to turn colors, needles from pine tree were falling like rain.

The Santiam river is low at this time and was great for wading into, swimming if like cold river.

Kayaking the river - I dropped in at Cascadia - beautiful float back to River Bend - had to traverse quite a bit due to low water levels / avoiding the small waterfalls (5-10ft drops).

Camping Visit 2024

Clean showers, private, lots of trees, clean site, hiking, swimmable water (3 seconds was freezing but easily adjusted), inner tubing, agate hunting in the river, 9 miles away from Safeway. If you have Verizon, you will likely have WiFi Connect. AT&T had poor connection. Super beautiful site.

Clean and well maintained

This is one of our favorite pack and go campgrounds when we just need to get away from the house. It's so clean. The grounds and facilities are taken care of. The showers are awesome! There's a great spot for playing in the river, too :)

Nice Standard Campground

We drove through loops E and F to check them out, looking for a place to stay for the night. All sites look the same, well maintained, kind of boring. Minimal amount of privacy between sites. Kids running around all over the place. We decided to keep moving to find something more interesting and low key and peaceful feeling, but still giving this place 5 stars because it's a nice place, it's just not our style. (We ended up at Cascade State Park, which was more what we were looking for).

You can make reservations here, or drive up and see if any sites are available for that day. We drove through here on a Thursday in late August and there were only 3 sites available for walk up. Some sites are partial hookup (electric and water) and some are non-hookup.

There is a book exchange at check in kiosk, always a pleasant feature for us :)

There was a long line at the dump station, so maybe plan ahead for that.

Weak but usable verizon and ATT.

Nice, well maintained, on the river!

We had a great time staying at River Bend! This was our first trip here and won’t be our last, we’ve already made reservations for next year.

The sites were maintained very well and the camp hosts were very friendly. In addition to the paved driveway for our trailer, there always a nice, large concrete pad for the picnic table with a fire pit built on to the corner. The neighboring site on the right was 20-30 yards away and the site on the left was 100+ yards away. Lots of trees all around, good shade for those hot August days.

The bathrooms for the loop were a nice walk but not too far and they were cleaned 2x per day.

We spent most of our days at the river swimming, floating in tubes, skipping rocks and looking for crawdads. It was an easy walk on well maintained trails to get to the river.

The playground and adjacent field were fun for playing and games in the evenings.

Being a long, hot year there were no fires allowed in the fire pits. That was a small bummer, but the fire danger was so high that it wasn’t a big deal. We used our propane fire ring instead and that was great. Kind of nice coming away from a camping trip and not smelling of smoke 😁

Love this place, Can't wait to go back!

Came here to meet up with a Facebook camping group. It was one member's favorite place and I see why! Nice level sites with water and electric. Dump station on site. The sites are private with picnic tables and fire pits. The bathrooms are very nice. Peeked inside some of the creekside cabins. Those look super cute.

The main attraction here is the South Santiam River, which in October is stunning. Would love to visit in the summer when can actually take a dip. It's a great place to come and sit and meditate, watch the birds, just relax. Love it here!

One of my favorites

We spent a couple of nights at Riverbend over the 4th of July. We were in site A2, the site is nice (as are all their spots), paved and enough trees to keep the shade around on hot days. My only complaint is really out of the campground's control. There is a small lot of land that is privately owned near the A and C loops. The owners of this property allow their dogs to bark constantly, was a bit annoying after 3 hours. I recommend staying in the F or E loops.

Pretty

This campground was really nice. The staff was really nice, people were pretty quiet during quiet hours. They have some first come first serve spots. I felt like the concrete slab kept the ground more dry than had it just been gravel, it didn't bother me too much. The camping spots are close together but as I walked around I noticed that there were alot of nice electric spots. You could probably tent camp in one if you wanted more privacy. This would be a nice place to take the kids, there is a small playground and a feild. Lots of nice trees and a trail.

Nice Clean Park

This is a bigger park, but I felt that most of the campers were very courteous, wasn't loud at all.  The showers were clean, and there's a nice spot to walk down the the river.

Great campground!!

This is a very clean campground. It is a ways out of town which I personally prefer! Kid friendly for sure and around the campground it’s got many good swimming holes!

Very nice and clean park

Great location with lots of amenities. One of our favorites for the summer with trail for hiking and access to the river. Camp sites are larger and have concrete pads, great for relaxing by the fire ring.

Nicest park with cleanesy facilities

This is the nicest and cleanest park we've stayed at in a long time. Sites are cleaned between guests. Sites are level and well thought out to maximize privacy. The host was great to talk to and had a great insight to the area. The grounds are patrolled regularly and rules are enforced. Would definitely stay again...

Close to town yet in the forest.

Just outside of Sweet Home Oregon (by 6 miles). Nice facilities with toilets and showers, close to South Santiam river. Great place to come for the Oregon Jamboree. But a must anytime to make reservation. A few sites(9) are first come first serve. Four ADA sites. I like the A-B-C loop area because the trees are more dense. There are camp host that you can purchase wood and ice. The campground is run by Linn County 541-967-3917 or RSVP www.linnparks.com. Three miles east of Foster Lake and a boat launch, bring a boat/canoe and enjoy the lake. Can do Group camping, or use a day area for family picnic. Nice play area for kids, volleyball and horseshoe games.

Quiet, on the river

Quiet and clean, with a great playground for the kids in the central meadow. Took us a while to figure out how to get to the river, we should have consulted the park host since the way we found wasn’t the easiest path. But the river is gorgeous and fun to romp in.
