Horse trailers and RVs navigate a gravel road through Oregon State Forests to reach this multi-use campground that serves equestrians, scouts, and family campers. Camp Wilkerson spreads across different camping areas connected by forest roads, with a creek running through the property that provides water access for cooling off and play.
The facility accommodates various camping styles through separate zones. RV sites offer full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections, while tent campers can choose between developed sites or walk-in spots. Group camping occurs in Adirondack shelters with bunk sleeping, and rental cabins feature front porch swings. Schona K. notes "Bring your horses and ride the trails and stay at the horse camp," highlighting the dedicated equestrian facilities with trail access.
Bathroom facilities vary by location, with older restrooms near some camping areas and updated facilities near the horse camp. Showers operate on push-button timers. Cell service from major carriers remains spotty throughout the campground. Trail options include the Little Foot trail, though wayfinding can prove challenging, and the Liahona trail system that connects with horse trails through the forest.
Campers seeking waterfront sites might consider Columbia County Big Eddy Park for direct river access instead.
