Guests frequently mentioned the free camping in a spacious grass field that accommodates large RVs with friendly staff and clean facilities. Many campers appreciated the quiet atmosphere despite highway proximity and praised the excellent location near Tillamook attractions.

Overnight

After checking into the front counter and getting our parking permit, we ended a beautiful sunny December day with wine tasting.
No amenities and must be fully self-contained to stay.

RV only spot. No Vans.

Although we liked the wine, we were not able to stay because our Astro Van wasn’t approved and not considered “self contained”… lady was a bit rude to us as well. kind stinks since we needed to stay somewhere. If you have an RV though you’ll most likely be able to

Blue Heron

This is a Harvest Host site. I’m not sure if it’s ok to post about them here but it is a great place to stay. The shop is nice and there is music, food, and late hours on first Fridays in the summer. Lots of sites but must be fully contained.

Felt very safe here!

I was super skeptical at first of staying in a large field with a bunch of other RV, Van-life, Bus folk, as I usually stick to secluded spots. I was NOT disappointed at all. The people working in Blue Heron were very kind and helpful. You just check-in on an iPad inside, and then head out to the field and pick a spot. There was enough space to feel comfortable, and I wasn’t bothered at all. I highly recommend, especially because it’s free and so close to a number of activities.

Easy, beautiful, and plenty of space!

We got in at sunset (around 9PM) and there were a lot of vans/RVs but still plenty of space for us. It wasn’t crammed either. It was really quiet even though there were a lot of other people. There was just a bit of noise from the road but it was minimal. There was a portapotty that was super clean for a portapotty. We had no issue driving in at night after closing and experienced no issues. It was very easy to find. There was great reception so I could have a zoom meeting in the morning. 10/10 would recommend. We felt safe the whole time and enjoyed the pretty mountains in the evening and the foggy atmosphere in the morning. We stayed just the one night sundown to sun up:)

Couldn’t say better things about this place. Great location & super friendly staff! Don’t have to be on harvest host & can stay up to 5 nights. Just check in with the front desk to get a parking pass. In the middle of town to do everything. Blue Heron also has a gas fire pit by the building that they will let you use in the evening. Short 15 min drive to the beach and 3 min drive to Tillamook Creamery. Must try the Brie from Blue Heron tho. It’s 10/10!!!

No hookups. Petting zoo on site. Large hangout area at cheese factory. There is a porta potty where campers are. Big field that you park in.

Convenient spot

Pulled in late, saw a bunch of other campers already there. Plenty of places to park, port-a-potty’s were available closer to the Blue Heron store. Super friendly staff there the next morning, good selection of food, gifts, etc. in the store. The view I. The morning was spectacular

Fun spot

Just a bit north of town. Check in inside the store, and they'll give you a permit after you give them some basic personal/vehicle info. Parking map on the back of the permit. 2 nights max. Try the black pepper brie!

Free self contained camping

Stayed here for a night whilst visiting Tillamook and enjoyed hot coffee and a toasted sandwich at the cafe in the morning for reasonable prices. Has a big field of green grass to camp on for up to 5 nights if you’re in a vehicle or RV - no tents allowed. Also has a free petting zoo. It was quiet and dark enough to get a good nights sleep in our van.

Harvest Host site

We stayed here through Harvest Hosts, so I was surprised to see that this site is listed on all the camping apps as well. The sign on the gate to the RV parking area says Harvest Hosts, but I guess it doesn’t matter. You’re supposed to go in and check in and get a parking pass, so I thought, but the person at the register seemed wholly uninterested that we wanted to stay the night and said she didn’t need any information from us.

You can stay extra nights as well but we only stayed the one night. The RV parking area is enormous, and I want to say there were maybe 30 RVs and vans that spent the night, with plenty room for more. No tents allowed, must be self-contained to stay here, but there is a porta potty in the RV overnight area available for use. There’s a cool little “petting zoo” (more like you just watch the animals from afar), a big gift shop with all sorts of cheeses and gifts and wines and a little deli as well. Cell service was good, road noise is loud but it’s steady so it wasn’t annoying (and parking further away from the road does not reduce the noise, so feel free to spread out). Parking surface is grass and it was surprisingly flat. Sites are numbered as well.

Free Parking 2 night Maximum

We were surprised to find this on our route through highway 101. Original plans were to see the tollimook creamery so we got a bonus with parking at the French cheese factory as well! Big spots. 45 foot fifth wheel fit fine. Free and pick a spot just let the front desk know. Generators allowed just common curtosy. Lovely spot with views!
