Scissortail Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Scissortail Campground sits within Oklahoma's state park system near Arcadia Lake, giving campers direct access to the water for fishing, kayaking, and swimming. Full hookups with electric, water, and sewer connections make it a functional base for RV campers, and the campground also accommodates drive-in, walk-in, and boat-in arrivals. Nightly rates run $31 to $36, with reservations available and pets welcome.

Water access is a draw here, but it comes with caveats. Sites with water hookups are limited in number, and site placement can affect what campers actually see of the lake. As James W. notes, "Lake view is obstructed," which is worth factoring in when selecting a site. The area sits low and can get buggy, particularly in warmer months.

Cleanliness has been inconsistent based on recent visits. Some campers have found trash left at sites and bathrooms in poor condition, while others report a clean, well-maintained park. Wildlife is a consistent theme across reviews, with deer sightings common enough that kids have had the chance to feed them. Dogs tend to do well here given the lake access and open space. The campground also connects to hiking, biking, and equestrian trails, along with WiFi and a dump station on site.

Campers who want to compare options in the area can also look at Spring Creek and Central State Park Campground, both nearby. If the lake and full hookups fit your setup, Scissortail is worth a closer look, just go in with realistic expectations about facilities.

Campers frequently cited wildlife viewing and lakeside full hookups as highlights. However, many visitors reported significant issues with bathroom cleanliness and inconsistent site conditions.

Nice Area

The site itself is private and could be a nice place. There was trash all over the site and the showers and bathrooms were disgusting. There are limited spots with water and with nasty bathrooms if you rely on having water you should avoid this place. There were lots of wildlife.
