Found this campground purely by chance. My first visit. Driving on my way south. Checked in late evening would be out early. Was peaceful, spots were spaced out well. Was across from the showers, which was nice. Staff was nice after they realized I actually paid for my site. Zero cell reception but the scenery was lovely.
I was driving cross country for my daughter’s wedding in Yankee Boy Basin. Found this Gem while searching for a spot for the night. I only needed a place for the night but so wish it was more than that. The campground was amazing, the staff were awesome. The coffee in the café was divine. I stayed at the back of the grounds, not far from the showers. The camp was clean, restrooms were clean, it was a great stay. I wish I could’ve stayed more than one night and hope to someday return.
I was excited to stay at a new location. Found my way there and selected an open spot directly across from the bridge. That spot was taken, appeared to be a family living on the bridge. Half of it was filled with their belongings. Looked like other areas, up on the hill, were also set up as home.
Set up my area, noticed there were a lot of bugs. Seriously a lot of them. After about 6 hours unfortunately I couldn’t handle them anymore, packed up and left. It’s possible A, B, and C have fewer bugs. May drive through those areas at a future time. Would not stay at D again.
This was my first time at Chickasaw but it won’t be my last! Beautiful location, extremely friendly staff. Locals were kind, welcoming, and helpful. I spent one night here on my way south. My stay was peaceful, tranquil, and restorative. The campsite was amazing. Dazzled me with a perfect lakeside symphony of nature at its finest and a breathtaking view when I awoke.
