Worth the rough ride in!

We enjoyed our weekend at this fantastic spot! The big pieces of quartz we found were gorgeous, and so was the view at the water! It’s nestled in fall’s reservoir, but the little road in looked to be washed out. PLEASE take something with a little ground clearance and better than 2 wheel drive to get here. My Honda Element was on two wheels at one point but the AWD handled it like a champ. My husband used his truck to pull a Jetta and a Camry back up the hill after they got stuck. Also, choose your campsite wisely. The one to the left by the bad spots in the road wasn’t as flat as we’d hoped, but it was still manageable. In spite of all that, this spot was well worth it, we saw so much beauty and our family made some awesome memories!

What a hidden gem!

Me and my wife had such a blast the ladt few days camping here! We stayed 3 days and 2 nights and there was only 1 other vehicle down there with us the entire time. Like the one review above said the drive down/up Is a little sketchy but if your vehicle doesn't sit super low you should be able to make it with only a couple minor bottom outs. Out site was off to the left of the major parking area right down by the river. Super private and had some nice trails near by for hiking/finding fire wood. 10/10. Cant wait to go back

Great area to bring the fur babies!

It was a nice spot, big open camping spots that are first come first serve. The drive down the trail can be a bit much if you’re in a smaller car like we were, we had to drive slowly down because of all of the rocks. We didn’t catch any fish but I’m sure if you’re able to get out in the water via canoe or kayak, you’ll be able to. We only stayed over night due to a tropical storm coming in but the area itself is beautiful to walk around. We brought our two pups & they had a blast playing & laying in the water! We stayed at a campsite next to the river bend, not on the actual Deep Water Trail, because it got super bumpy & didn’t want to damage our car. But it gave us a nice path downward to get to the Yadkin River, before the Badin Lake.

Great Camping but... Why are so many people trashing the place?

First of all.. this place is FREE to camp at and surrounded by beautiful water, beautiful trees and the ancient rock of Uwharrie. A lovely place that we are so lucky to have access to... BUT. People. Why? Why are there piles of trash being left at campsites? I bagged up 4 large bags of garbage that some college aged kids just left. There are so many campers leaving piles upon piles of their camping trash out here.

Great spot, great fishing

If you want to get away, this is where you go. Secluded but still able to get into town for supplies. Beautiful area, lots of space on the lower ground, gorgeous views from the higher ground, and some damn good fishing. I didn’t take enough pictures when I was there. The upper landing is relatively small, my Dodge Ram fit with nothing being exposed on the road, but there was still plenty of camp able space begins my truck. Short but steep walk down to the river. I would be careful when the river is swollen, but otherwise it is gorgeous. My friends both caught a couple of channel cats. One enormous female catfish we released because she had eggs on board. Great. Definitely recommend it for a day or weekend trip. You have to haul all your supplies and trash in and out to include water.

Remote Grandure

I loved the place. Really remote and FREE. Lots of spots on Botha sides of the road. Not for bigger rigs. I’ve got a 13 foot pull behind. Backed in mostly but a few could be pulled in an out. Road posted 25 mph but recommend 10 mph. Was also narrow in spots. Very bumpy. Last 1/2 mile don’t go. Steep rocky Muddy. Photos show. Fire rings were rocks. No water all primitive. Will go back when warmer. Lots of trails and wildlife. Stayed in 2 different spots.

Nice spot with lots of space

Great spot there’s some open areas to camp before you get to the water. You need a truck or something big to get down to the water unless the re-did the road. There’s a few campsites surrounded by trees but also a large open area that can hold multiple vehicles
