Several RV parks near Erwin provide full hookup sites for short and long-term stays. Fayetteville RV Resort & Cottages, located in Wade, features pull-through sites with 50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections on level, gravel pads with concrete patios. "The sites are big with a picnic table, fire pit and level sites," noted one visitor who appreciated the concrete pads and blocked fire rings. Raleigh Oaks RV Resort in Four Oaks accommodates big rigs with spacious sites and full hookups year-round, while Happy Trails RV Park offers water and sewer connections but lacks big rig accessibility. Smith Lake Army RV Park near Fayetteville provides concrete pads with picnic tables and fire rings, though military aircraft noise should be expected.
Many RV parks in the area offer varying amenities depending on their primary purpose. Overnight travelers stopping along I-95 will find Four Oaks Lodging & RV Resort and RVacation Campground convenient with easy access and pull-through sites, though highway noise can be considerable. During summer months, swimming pools operate at several parks including Fayetteville RV Resort and Raleigh Oaks. Cell service varies across the region, with strong Verizon coverage reported at most locations. Dump stations are available at nearly all parks, though placement can require planning during busy checkout times. Stayed in the C loop right on the water. Bathrooms are up the hill at the entrance to the loop. Sites along the lake aren’t private but are spacious.
Very nice well maintained park with big pull through spaces. Bathhouse are clean and modern. Running a speed test on my T-Mobile phone I got 269mbps down and 6 up. We will definitely stay here again. With GoodSam discount it was $63 a night.
Nice big park with large parking spaces and well marked level spots. Lots of long stay rvs with porches but they are all newer rigs. Decent WiFi
The sites are very large, long and wider at the back, plenty of room for a big group or family. The bathrooms look new and they are clean. Here during the week so it's very empty and quiet.
We were able to squeak in for Labor Day weekend. And they are always a great time. Well kept grounds, and really friendly people. The waffles are always a hit and much appreciated! If you can help it- plz don’t skip this spot! You won’t regret it.
Sometimes you pull into a campground expecting little more than a comfortable place to sleep and discover the kids have already made tomorrow’s plans before you’ve even finished setting up, and Fayetteville RV Resort & Cottages was that kind of happy surprise for our family. Tucked into the countryside of Wade just minutes from I-95, this beautifully maintained resort combines spacious, mostly shaded RV sites (including enormous pull-throughs accommodating big rigs) with cottages and enough green space that it feels remarkably removed from the highway. Families are especially spoiled here with two swimming pools, mini golf, a playground, walking path, fitness center, clubhouse, clean restrooms and showers, laundry facilities and dog parks, while full-hookup sites with 30/50-amp service make Mom and Dad’s life considerably easier too. One of my favorite memories was watching the boys bounce between swimming and miniature golf until that wonderful end-of-the-day exhaustion finally set in, leaving us to enjoy a quieter evening together back at the campsite. Some campgrounds are where you sleep between adventures - this is one where convincing the kids to actually leave becomes the adventure. With the resort offering numerous long pull-through and back-in sites rather than one clearly superior campsite, I’d choose one of the more shaded sites away from the busiest activity areas if your family values a quieter evening. We would enthusiastically recommend Fayetteville RV Resort for families because it’s exceptionally clean, wonderfully convenient and packed with enough kid-friendly recreation to turn what could easily have been an I-95 pit stop into a genuine family camping getaway.
We visited Crosswinds campground at Jordan Lake State Park on the worst heatwave of the year. The great thing about this area is that the sites a well shaded. We were about 50 yards from the lake, with the wind blowing we still were comfortable all day. We stayed on Loop A, which is my favorite loop at the park. There’s no electricity or water at the sites. There are water spickets throughout the loop with potable water. The site is awesome! There’s a small pond beside it. The neighboring sites are close, but regular conversations can not be heard.this loop is always quiet even when there are a lot of people, but it’s never been full when I’m there. I didn’t do good with photos except for the food.
Arriving here to Holly Point Falls feels overwhelmingly relaxing as the pines embrace you with a welcome that will immediately remind you that you are out in pure nature here. The campgrounds here are thoughtfully laid out, with a mix of tent pads, RV-friendly sites and electric & water hookups at many loops. Sites vary in privacy, but most are generous in size with enough tree cover to make you feel like you’ve claimed your own little slice of wilderness. Bathhouses are clean and functional with the park staff keeping things tidy. Families and four-legged friends are welcome and the paved roads make getting in and out relatively stress-free. Larger rigs will want to pay attention when reserving, as some loops are tighter than others. Our boys simply loved this campground with its EZ access to Falls Lake, which was perfect for us to go fishing and kayaking in. We absolutely recommend Holly Point Campground at Falls Lake for any family looking to get as close to nature, without leaving civilization completely behind.

Fishing opportunities: Smith Lake at Smith Lake Army RV Park provides recreation for military families. "Many AD soldiers and their families fulltime. They have been great. Next to Simmons Army Air Field so, expect whirlybirds at all hours buzzing the CG. All the sounds of freedom are to be expected and enjoyed," explains one camper. The park offers lake access with seasonal fishing.
Military history exploration: Visit the Averasboro Civil War Battlefield and Museum, just 9.6 miles from Fayetteville RV Resort. This historical site features approximately 10 connected historical markers. "In Fayetteville about 15-20 minutes there is a lot to do and see," notes a visitor.
Lake activities: Tucker Lake near Four Oaks Lodging & RV Resort offers white sandy beaches and water recreation. "Take advantage of the close proximity to 30 acre Tucker Lake (conveniently located where Interstate 40 intersects 95), where some decent fishing can be had – we caught (and released) several smallmouth bass, brook trout and black bullheads," shares one camper. The lake features a 165-foot waterslide, rope swings, and rental equipment.
Resort-style amenities: Raleigh Oaks RV Resort & Cottages provides multiple recreation options. "Immaculately clean and well maintained park. Everyone was very friendly. Large, mostly level, pull through spots. It's not the most natural setting (it's more RV than park) but it had a pool, tennis courts, playground and mini-golf course," reports one guest. The resort also features three dog parks and two pools.
Weekend food options: Several campgrounds offer complimentary weekend breakfast. "Saturday and Sunday this spot offers up complimentary waffles, coffee and juice," mentions a visitor at Raleigh Oaks RV Resort. At Fayetteville RV Resort & Cottages, a camper noted, "Saturday morning they had a Waffle breakfast," which creates a community atmosphere.
Community events: Organized activities enhance the camping experience. "We really liked the 'Meet Your Neighbors Happy Hour', they really wowed us with this event. It ends early enough that you can still have a quiet evening around your camp site," describes a Fayetteville RV Resort visitor. Many parks schedule regular events like movie nights with popcorn and organized kid activities.
Aircraft noise: Military installations near camping areas create consistent noise. At Smith Lake Army RV Park, "Campground is next to airfield, you might get Helicopter nosies from time to time," warns a camper. This noise can occur at various hours throughout the day and night.
Seasonal variations: The camping experience changes throughout the year. "It's winter so, the lake and amenities aren't available for use. But, they look great and you can fish inside the rec area, just not from the Campground," explains a visitor at Smith Lake Army RV Park.

Fuel on way in or out. Bathrooms immaculately kept," shares a visitor to Raleigh Oaks RV Resort. Clean facilities make family camping more comfortable.
Kid-friendly activities: Scheduled events provide entertainment. "During our stay they had scheduled kid activities and movie night with popcorn," reports a visitor at Fayetteville RV Resort. These organized activities help children connect with other campers.
Playground options: 70 East RV Park welcomes families with children. "It's family and pet friendly. Neighbors are friendly," notes a camper. When selecting a site, request locations near playgrounds for convenience.
Site selection: Level sites reduce setup time. "Every site has 30 or 50 amp and 20 amp. Each site has a picnic table," explains a visitor at Raleigh Oaks RV Resort. For easier parking, request pull-through sites when available.
Bathroom facilities: Campground bathroom quality varies significantly. "The latrines and showers are nice, large stalls and were clean," reports a camper at Hidden Haven RV Park. This particularly matters for RVers with limited onboard facilities.
Cell service considerations: Connectivity varies by location and carrier. "I have Verizon and at my site I had 3 bars and 5G. They do have free wifi and it was good at my site (I didn't have full wifi strength) but the cell data was a little faster," notes a camper at Hidden Haven RV Park. For reliable service, consider campgrounds closer to urban areas.
