Those as well were pretty clean for a camp ground, I was pleasantly surprised. The path to the bathrooms light up at night so you can find your way very easy in the dark. Camp ground itself was very clean and I often saw the staff working on cleaning it and interacting with the campers. The designated swimming area was like a piece of heaven. Small not to overly packed, very clean beach. We plan on coming pack to do tent camping with our dog, fantastic family or romantic couple retreat.
ScoutWe stayed at site 84, and stayed in a tent. There was a fire pit, hang hook for trash, and plenty of shade on the tent pad. We had plenty of space between each site as well. Bathrooms were fine with decent water pressure and hot water. I liked the idea of the campground host who was just a few spots from us. This allowed easy access to firewood for purchase. When we arrived at our site at 8:50pm, we were greeted by a super nice park ranger. We felt welcomed and safe.

We could fit 3 tents in one pad AND had a hammocker camper too.
If you are wanting some nature near the city, this is a good option - especially if you are checking out city things in Charlotte.
You can hear traffic at night when camping here so bring ear plugs, headphones or a white noise fan if that bothers you.

ScoutWe stayed 3 nights in a 31' travel trailer at site 80. Staff at counter was very friendly and provided all the information needed. Site was level side to side and paved with asphalt only wide enough for the camper. The hookups were standard location and heights no issues. Our steps come out to a large level dirt pad, not grass. Lots of trees providing shade which is nice. It had started raining after setup and the dirt quickly became mud. The bathhouse is close and clean, all tile. I wish there were curtains separating shower from dress area though. The shuttle to Carowinds was frequent and convenient. All in all, the campground was nice, we would stay again.
ScoutWe stayed for 4 nights, our site was incredible, the others not so much. The loop we were on had a vault toilet with t/p and hand sanitizer, there was a shower/toilet house a few hundred yards up the road, which we usually drove to for hot showers, very clean there. The campers before us were slobs with kids, there were little bits of plastic packaging all over the site along with their hanging neon night light which they were too lazy to put in the trash, apparently they didn't go through scouting. Sites here can be a bit close with no trees to screen your neighbor. If you're an rv'er would you please respect quite hours and not blast your tv until 11pm. They don't enforce quiet hours.

The park staff takes very good care of the area. Unfortunately there are some little beaches along the trails that have trash, mostly from fishing. The park offers some very nice hiking trails. This time I just did the Lakeshore trail and the dogs had a blast. We would camp here anytime again.
RangerWhat a magical experience floating in the trees surrounded by fire flies! Elizabeth and Mark were exceptional hosts. There is so much to do on property, and they are working on more! Their love for the land really shines through their work here.
The suspended tree tent feels like a bouncy tree house. We came during some spats of rain, and the rain fly kept us dry without any problems. The lower level serves as a great "garage" for all your gear. You climb up to the top level through the middle of the tent- we felt like kids again. So much fun!
Elizabeth has thought of EVERYTHING when it comes to her property! Not only do you have a fully equipped camp kitchen and fire pit, but there is also a rocket stove in the earth next to the pit. This is a wet area, but the rocket stove will give you a fire no matter what. The counter with the Colman stove served as a wonderful place to prep our meals.
There is also a full bathroom with a solar shower- super clean and well maintained! Elizabeth has put a ton of work into making trails that meander through the property, perfect for a stroll- or to go hang out in the community area by the stream. We were able to use fresh tomatoes and herbs from the garden for our meal, and then do our dishes by the water pump! Elizabeth walked us through how to use the pump- easy as pie!
There are hidden surprises in every nook and cranny. Tiny fairy gardens and hammocks, and variegated plants! Elizabeth even has a rock painting kit at the campsite :)
ScoutPlentiful campsites, we arrived on a Friday without a reservation and were able to get a spot. There is a swimming pool, but we didn't swim. Some hikes nearby, but far from the swimming spots in the Uwharrie National Forest. No bathrooms near the campsites, but there were spigots with potable water. The tent pads were even and well packed. All sites had a picnic bench and a fire pit with a grate.
TravelerSuper nice park, lots of kids around when we stayed so our kids had lots of new friends to play with. One even set up a lemonade stand. Neighbors are helpful and kind, the first back in sites are roomy but not too far away from neighbors. We’re happy we chose to back in versus pull through, those sites look pretty packed in and in the open sun. Laundry on site was limited but the machines work great and they have an app to let you know when more are available/when your load is done. Parks were well kept for the kids, and there’s even a scavenger hunt set up in the permanent residence lots for kiddos. The pond was nice, but full of shy fish.
Only real cons are there are lots of flies around and the creek is filled with granite so the kids tracked sand and “glitter” in the truck and trailer.
