Perfect Campsite

The campsite has clean bathrooms. The campsite itself is more secluded and there wasn’t a lot of people or noise. It was intimate and quiet, no loud people or families. Honestly the perfect getaway.

Great Camp

This is a great DEC spot. Sites were clean, camp well taken care of, staff friendly, and bathroom/showers were immaculate. Lake Harris itself is really beautiful, mostly canoes and kayaks, and it's location in Newcomb makes it nice and quiet, much more so than other local lake areas. Close enough to towns (15 mins) for supplies and whatever you need. Highly recommend it.

Lake Harris NY

Serene and quiet. We did some nice kayaking. Hung out with a pair of beautifully sounding Loons at sunset.

Pretty Views

We stayed at Lake Harris Campground for three days. We reserved site 54 which had a level dirt pad for the tent and a pretty long drive way. The firepit did not have a grate like the others, but that was ok because we had our MSR. The bathroom facilities had individual shower rooms that were filled with mosquitoes (shower quickly). We didn't have to wait to shower which was nice. At the time of our visit only one of the two sinks worked in the women's bathroom

The campground is on a large lake which connects to the Hudson River and other lakes. The campground rents out canoes for a 24 hr period. If you want to rents kayaks or paddleboards make your way to Cloud Splitter which is on the main road in Newcomb.

There are plenty of good hiking.trails nearby. We hiked My. Goodnow which was recommended by the owner of Cloud Splitter. My. Goodnow has a firepower on top of the mountain and the views are amazing (see photo below.) We will be back to this region next year.

Base Camp

Gorgeous campsite that we used as our base camp to hike Marcy. Technically, I don't recommend this as there are plenty of sites at the base of Marcy and this is an hour drive away. However, it's an amazing spot and you can't go wrong with anything in the 'dacks. We got unlucky with the weather, but the fog in the lake made for some good pictures. I believe we paid around $30/night for standard no hookup site peak season, but we didn't have neighbors on either side!

Wet but beautiful!

We got rained out!! Our site did have good drainage and ample tree cover so that helped. Easy access to buy firewood on the road into the campground.

Harris Lake

This campground was beautiful and so peaceful! We had a wonderful campsite with access to the water. Plenty of hiking nearby also! We hiked Goodnow Firetower down the road from the campground.
