Sno-Bird

Sno-Bird Campsite offers very basic amenities. The site features approximately 5-7 tent sites and a small box privy for restroom needs. There is no lean-to shelter available. The tent sites vary in size, with about three sites able to accommodate 4-person tents while the remaining four sites are better suited for 1-2 person tents. Be prepared for wet conditions and rooty terrain when setting up your tent. No water sources or other facilities are provided, so campers must bring all necessary supplies.

Sno-Bird Campsite is located high in the Adirondack Mountains along the HaBaSa trail (Haystack, Basin, Saddleback). It's positioned strategically between Haystack and Basin mountains, making it an ideal stopping point for hikers traversing this challenging trail system. The campsite sits at a high elevation, which contributes to windier and colder conditions compared to lower-elevation sites in the region.

Sno-Bird Campsite is typically open during the standard Adirondack hiking season, which generally runs from late spring through fall. Given its high elevation, weather conditions can limit accessibility, particularly in early spring and late fall when snow may still be present. No reservations are required for Sno-Bird Campsite, as it operates on a first-come, first-served basis typical of backcountry Adirondack camping areas. However, the site is small with only 5-7 tent spots available, so arriving early is recommended, especially during peak hiking seasons and weekends. All visitors must follow Adirondack Park backcountry camping regulations, including proper food storage and Leave No Trace principles.
