    Letchworth State Park Campground

A little gem with a lot to do

Cabin campers here at letchworth for the past two years. We stumbled on cabin camping at letchworth due to weekends being booked for almost the entire summer for tent spots. the cabins are spacious, with bunk beds, a stove, fridge, and a fire place. i thought they might be close together, yet they were all pretty private, with a fire ring and picnic table. There was a beautiful updated playground, and clean bathrooms. Last summer they had just opened the new nature center with guided hikes, and activities all summer long.

Great for the falls, swimming, hiking, white water rafting, kayaking and so much more!

    Flint Creek Campgrounds

Great activities, friendly hosts, full hook ups!

Close to wine country you will find this gem of a family campground. Dog and kid friendly with activities such as wagon rides, arts and crafts, movie night and various themed weekend events. The hosts were super friendly and welcoming during our entire stay. An easy back in site with full hookups (B10) backed against a row of trees and a field that provided much entertainment of squirrels and birds. There is a camp store with very reasonable prices and accepts credit cards. Wood ($4) and ice ($2) are also for sale. There are two small cabins to rent along with a couple of family tent sites. The bathrooms/showers were clean near the camp store. Amenities include a pool, mini golf ($1/person), two playgrounds, horseshoes, a recreation center with games and movies, basketball and shuffle board. There are many seasonal campers at this campground, but all seemed friendly and welcoming as well. It truly seemed like one big happy family there.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Beautiful place

Letchworth is absolutely stunning. The views are beautiful, however the scenic areas are at least a 10 minute drive from the campground. The park is massive.

There is a huge variation in site sizes. We lucked out and got a large site with privacy and an area for the kids to run around, however the site directly across from us was little more than the gravel pad and fire pit. Some of the sites are right on top of each other. Great for group camping, not so much if you want any privacy.

Only two out of the 8 loops (200 and 700 loops) have updated bathrooms (single toilet with handheld showers in half of the bathrooms). The others loops have older facilities with three traditional toilet stalls and two showers.

We loved our site but would’ve preferred to stay in a loop with the updated bath houses as we have younger children and a tent trailer.

All sites have electricity. Some loops are pet friendly, some are pet free. The camp store has a good selection of necessities, albeit expensive for discount brands. The pool is 4-5 miles down the road from the camping area.

    Would absolutely camp here again.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Cute cabins and amazing views

We stayed in a cute cabin with running water, a stove, and a heater for cold nights! Outside we had a picnic table and a campfire pit. The park itself has amazing hiking with awesome views. Highly recommend!

Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill

    Wonderful!

Great secluded tent camping (recomend numbers 7 and 8), cabins are new and ample beds and space. Camper camping is close to everything, but less privacy. Numerous pavilions that are wonderful for parties or weddings. Stunning overlook that is breathtaking (also great for weddings). Hiking, bike trails, fishing pond, playground, open fields for sports, much more!!! Great for photo shoots, weekend stress getaways etc. I live close by and visit a few times a month.

    Conesus Lake Campground

Camping with amenities, close to fun

This is your typical Mom and Pop family campground, there are rules to follow but they do not hinder on your experience. They have a well stocked camp store, boat rentals, golf cart rentals, an indoor heated pool, jump pad, playgrounds, a hiking trail and frisbee golf. The bottom portion of the campground has mostly seasonal campers and cabins. You do have to go up a pretty steep hill to get to the 'transient' camping section, but there are many pull through, level, full hook up sites to choose from. ( We had site 250 and really liked it) The bathrooms were toilet/shower combos and were very clean. Attractions close by is a drive-in with 4 different screens, many places to eat, parks ( Vitale Park was really nice), a fun center with mini golf, go carts, batting cages, laser tag and arcade. We also experienced the local flea market in Avon, NY. It's HUGE!

    Darien Lakes State Park Campground

    Clean/Quiet Campground

9/25-9/29/22- The park was nearly empty, perhaps 6 or 8 other campers widely spread out. It was immaculate and the sites well spaced apart. All site have a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had both 30A and 50A power, was pretty level left/right but about 6” high in front before we leveled our 34’ fifth wheel. The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site#15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception. The dump station was clean and convenient. It looked like a great place for kids that included at least one (probably more) playground.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Good Camping inside the Park

The campgrounds are conveniently located inside the Park so easy to get to the amazing falls towards the south as well as the dam in the north. We were in loop 300 which does not allow pets. Decent bathhouses right opposite our site. Our site was a gravel drive with a grassy area containing the picnic table and fire ring. Unfortunately due to rain the day before the grass was extremely muddy which make it hard to get to the fire ring. There was also white a lot of noise from adjacent sites, we could hear everyone's conversations and screaming kids. There was a laundry facility but no dishwashing.

Lakeview Camping Area — Fair Haven Beach State Park

    We decided to move on

We drove through here but didn’t stay. The non-electric sites were pretty much all on hilly areas, most would be impossible for an RV to get level, though there were a few that would have worked.

We drove through the “bluffs” loop (electric sites), thinking it would be beautiful and look out on the water, but it was a nightmare for us, with huge RVs jam packed side by side like a parking lot.

The lakeview loop was nicer, but still too many RVs all in a row. There are also cute cabins here for rent.

When we were there the city was under a water advisory- all water had to be boiled before any kind of use. There was a dump station, and trash bins but no recycling (I’m disappointed in the lack of recycling at NY State campgrounds!) So, we moved on to Selkirk SP and stayed there instead.

Guide to North Greece

Cabin accommodations near North Greece, New York provide access to Lake Ontario shorelines and surrounding woodland areas. Most cabin properties in the region sit between 250-400 feet above sea level, creating mild temperature conditions with moderate humidity during peak summer camping season. Cabins range from rustic structures with minimal amenities to fully-equipped units with modern conveniences, often requiring reservations 2-3 months in advance.

What to do

Hiking trails access: Webster Park offers several wooded paths directly accessible from the campsites. "We stay on the outer ring on that side of loop as it gives access to the woods and trails behind the sites," explains a visitor at Webster Park.

Lake Ontario proximity: Golden Hill State Park Campground provides direct lake access with unobstructed water views. "It was glorious to sleep to the sound of waves hitting the shore and wake to the panoramic Lake Ontario view. The old lighthouse is a beautiful building, and the grounds in general are super well kept," notes one camper about their experience at Golden Hill State Park Campground.

Frisbee golf courses: Multiple campgrounds offer disc golf opportunities for cabin guests. "With standard sites and a beautiful water for fishing this camp ground is great for a weekend or even for a day hike or a nice game of frisbee golf," mentions a visitor about Golden Hill State Park Campground.

What campers like

Private, wooded sites: Webster Park gets high marks for site privacy and woodland setting. "Camping sites are private and have everything you need for tent camping! Showers and bathrooms clean! Sink available for dishes," notes a camper at Webster Park.

Cabin proximity to amenities: Lake Bluff RV Park offers cabins near recreational facilities. "Near the play ground they have a nice game room pool, air hockey, video games. There is a change machine too," shares a visitor about Lake Bluff RV Park.

Lakefront views: Cabin sites with water views are particularly valued. "The views are spectacular, particularly at sunset. The campground was quiet at night," remarks a guest at Golden Hill State Park Campground.

What you should know

Shower facility quality: Bathhouses vary significantly between properties. "Showers in the bathrooms were phenomenal - very clean with hot water and a private dressing area next to the shower. Showers were ADA compliant and had shower seats," reports a camper at Golden Hill State Park Campground.

Wi-Fi and cell service: Connectivity options are limited at some locations. "Cell phone coverage is poor by Verizon and T-Mobile, and there is no WiFi, and no camp store (but the town of Webster is nearby)," notes a visitor about Webster Park.

Reservation requirements: Advance booking timelines vary by season and location. "Due to COVID, advance reservations are required to book a spot at any NY state campground," explains one camper regarding Golden Hill State Park policies.

Tips for camping with families

Playgrounds and activities: Family-focused cabin options include organized events. "Kids activities are great. Even with COVID they have stuff to keep them busy. Large wooded sites are our favorite as well," mentions a camper at Lake Bluff RV Park.

Kid-friendly cabin locations: Strategic site selection enhances family experiences. "We stay close to the playground these days in our pop up usually at site 5 so our 5 and 9 year old can walk or ride to campground," suggests a visitor at Webster Park.

Cabin alternatives: For larger groups, consider specialty accommodations. "If you're with a group definitely rent the cabins," recommends a visitor about Golden Hill State Park Campground.

Tips from RVers

Water hookup locations: Some sites have unusual utility placements. "Our water hook up was in the middle of someone's site," notes a camper at Canandaigua-Rochester KOA.

Site leveling: Terrain varies considerably between properties and specific sites. "Almost all of the sites are not even close to level. Not a big issue with a fifth wheel but a real hassle with a motorcoach," warns a visitor at Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort.

Hookup configurations: Available connections differ by site. "You need a long hose for fresh water in the RV. No sewer sites," advises one camper at Webster Park.
