Tent campsites near North Greece, New York include a variety of established campgrounds suitable for outdoor recreation. Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort in Macedon provides tent sites with amenities including drinking water, fire rings, and bathroom facilities. Located along the Erie Canal, this campground operates seasonally from April 15 to October 31. The PineApple Farm offers a more rustic tent camping experience with basic amenities and a highly rated experience according to visitors. Both locations provide drive-in access for tent campers seeking established sites.

Most tent campgrounds in the North Greece region maintain clean facilities with varying levels of amenities. Sites farther from North Greece offer deeper solitude for tent-only camping experiences. This makes it suitable for campers seeking a more primitive tent camping experience. Several established campgrounds allow fires with firewood available for purchase on-site. One camper noted that "Holiday Hill Campground has lots of trails, and Hemlock and Canadice Lake are so close by. Tons to do in the area but town isn't too far." Another review mentioned that Dream Lake Campground offers "a nice friendly environment, clean facilities, and lots to do for kids and adults."

    Canandaigua-Rochester KOA

    Camping near Canandaigua, New York

Campers exploring the Canandaigua area discover a delightful mix of lakeside retreats, wooded state parks, and family-friendly RV resorts. Just minutes from downtown, Canandaigua City Park Campground offers easy access to local shops and the lakefront beach, making it a convenient base for those who want town amenities within walking distance. A short drive farther out leads to Keuka Lake State Park Campground and the privately owned Canandaigua-Rochester KOA, both of which feature spacious sites, clean facilities, and excellent opportunities for swimming, kayaking, and fishing on the Finger Lakes. For those seeking a quieter experience, numerous backcountry and dispersed sites are tucked into the surrounding National Forest, where campers can truly unplug—though it’s essential to bring all necessary supplies and practice Leave No Trace principles. Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill and the Stay Bristol Woodlands campground blend rustic charm with modern comforts: well-maintained restrooms, picnic shelters, and on-site hiking trails that wind through hardwood forests and offer scenic overlooks, especially stunning during fall foliage season. Travel logistics are a breeze when visitors prearrange an airport shuttle from Rochester or Syracuse airports, ensuring a smooth transition from plane to campsite. And for adventurers mapping out multiple stops across the Finger Lakes or beyond, reliable multi-city transfers provide comfortable, door-to-door rides—no rental car necessary. With its blend of waterfront sites, wooded hideaways, and nearby attractions—wineries, waterfalls, and historic villages—the Canandaigua region truly has something for every type of camper. Whether pitching a tent under the stars or rolling in with an RV, visitors will find endless opportunities for adventure and relaxation.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Amazing state park, crappy campground

The state park is breathtaking. The campground is horrendous. The restrooms were disgusting. The site barely fit our one tent (8man Coleman) even though it was advertised as a two tent site. The camp fire ring had no solid base- it just sat on the grass and fires would not stay lit. The quiet hours were not enforced. Yelling and loud music kept us up until ridiculous hours. I would not rate this as family friendly.

    Genesee Country Campground

Great spot - esp for tents!

What a great place this was!

Everyone was very nice and bathrooms were so clean! To top it off the sites for tents are amazing - so private and pretty. In fact it’s so private we were able to set up our own portable toilet and have complete privacy.

Nice little store too! Overall this place was great and we’d stay here again in a heartbeat. Very easy place to spend the night.

Also they have golfing here and tent areas back up to the 9th hole (but still separated so you don’t feel like you are right on top of it) so you can easily knock around there and do a little golfing too!

    Golden Hill State Park Campground

    Quiet Campground Over Lake Ontario

We camped at Golden Hill over the weekend of July 24-26, 2020. Due to COVID, advance reservations are required to book a spot at any NY state campground. We had site 47 in loop C, which was across the road from the lake view sites. I recommend sites 40-45 for lake-front views. Loops A and B were more crowded and more suitable to RV trailers and rigs (we were camping in a pop-up camper). Site 47 was large and had a few trees. The campfire ring was right against the pad, which made it difficult to position our pop-up so that it was away from the fire ring.

Things to consider: There are 2 bathrooms in the campground, one near the A-B loops and one near the entrance. It was quite a hike in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom from our site. Some sites in the A-B loops are right next to each other, and we preferred the space for the sites in the C loop.

Wonderful things: The views are spectacular, particularly at sunset. The campground was quiet at night. The Niagara Wine trail is close to this campground, and Niagara Falls is about a 50 minute drive away. We hiked Devil's Hole and Whirlpool State Parks on this camping trip. The showers in the bathrooms were phenomenal - very clean with hot water and a private dressing area next to the shower. Showers were ADA compliant and had shower seats.

    Hamlin Beach State Park Campground

Is this a spot? Dirty and loud but a nice beach

Big park with several loops.  Separate and across two roads from the Beach section of the Park. Got a reservation for Friday and Saturday but the spot in loop D was an inclined driveway next to the high voltage boxes for the campground.  Had to move the fire ring after smoking ourselves out the first night.  Right across from the building they called a bath house.  Filthy, urinal broken, one shower broken in mens.   Feces on the floor in womens.  Friday night quiet hours did not exist.  Spent Saturday early am listening to the neighbor loudly declare her preferences in music, men and liquor.  No Ranger in sight.

Minor redeeming qualities:  Nice beach and bike trails across road from campground.  Three lane dump station (only one for a four loop campground with 100s of "spots")

Beware:  Rigs approaching from East there are very low bridges (11' 3') between Rochester and the Park on the Parkway.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Beautiful Park

So Letchworth State Park is beautiful. It's also tremendous, 18 miles long covering the east and west side of the Geneseo River. There is over 100 miles of trails intersecting the park. The campground itself is made up of loops with only electrical hookups , no water or sewer connections , just water spiquets positioned throughout the loop and 1common bathroom in each loop. There is no wifi in any of the camping areas so if you are dependant on it for any reason this is not the place for you. Only at certain points in the park will you get a signal

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Good Camping inside the Park

The campgrounds are conveniently located inside the Park so easy to get to the amazing falls towards the south as well as the dam in the north. We were in loop 300 which does not allow pets. Decent bathhouses right opposite our site. Our site was a gravel drive with a grassy area containing the picnic table and fire ring. Unfortunately due to rain the day before the grass was extremely muddy which make it hard to get to the fire ring. There was also white a lot of noise from adjacent sites, we could hear everyone's conversations and screaming kids. There was a laundry facility but no dishwashing.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

A little gem with a lot to do

Cabin campers here at letchworth for the past two years. We stumbled on cabin camping at letchworth due to weekends being booked for almost the entire summer for tent spots. the cabins are spacious, with bunk beds, a stove, fridge, and a fire place. i thought they might be close together, yet they were all pretty private, with a fire ring and picnic table. There was a beautiful updated playground, and clean bathrooms. Last summer they had just opened the new nature center with guided hikes, and activities all summer long.

Great for the falls, swimming, hiking, white water rafting, kayaking and so much more!

    Creek n wood

Peaceful getaway, family and pet friendly

This is a private campground located in Bloomfield, NY right on the Mud Creek. Located close to shopping, wineries, hiking, and concert events. Call for reservation, then they use text to send reservation form, confirmation form and site map. $20 gets you a bucket full of campfire wood delivered directly to your campsite! A pavilion on site offers a sink and refrigerator to use ( must label with name) , FREE games ( pool table, foosball, cards, Cornhole, etc). Don't feel like bringing/ setting up the grill? They have you covered.... Use their full size grills on site! While they have several showers to use, I only found one flush toilet for the ladies to use ( large area but no door or curtain) however, there are Port a pottys to use as well. Sites have picnic table, fire ring, Adirondack chairs, water and electric hookup, and a dump station to use on your way out. If you stay for an extended period, they offer free emptying at your site. Turtle visits are complimentary as well.

Guide to North Greece

Tent campsites near North Greece, New York range from primitive sites to more developed options throughout the Finger Lakes region. The area features numerous recreational lakes with elevations ranging from 500 to 1,200 feet, creating diverse microclimates. Winter camping is available at select locations, though most campgrounds operate seasonally from May through October with limited facilities during shoulder seasons.

What to do

Water activities on Erie Canal: At Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort, campers can access kayaking directly from the campground. "Kayak launches and boat marina nearby. The speed limit is 5 MPH and they mean it," reports Rachel T., noting the safety features that make the area suitable for families.

Hiking nearby trails: Campers at tent sites frequently venture to surrounding natural areas. "Lots of trails, and Hemlock and Canadice Lake so close by. Mostly known for Reynolds GUlly, and Johnson Hill trails," shares a reviewer about the area surrounding Holiday Hill Campground.

Swimming options: Most campgrounds with tent sites offer swimming facilities during summer months. One camper at Dream Lake Campground notes they provide "weekend activities" and "lots to do for kids and adults," making it a popular choice for families seeking recreation beyond just camping.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Tent campers consistently mention facility cleanliness as a priority. A camper at Dream Lake Campground reports "nice friendly environment, clean facilities," highlighting the importance of maintenance for tent camping comfort.

Entertainment options: The PineApple Farm offers unique glamping and tent camping experiences with high ratings from visitors, making it suitable for campers seeking something beyond standard tent camping.

Canal-side atmosphere: The history and setting along the Erie Canal creates a distinctive camping environment. "The story of how this newer campground came to be is wonderful. It is new and growing. The pool is nice and staff friendly," notes Amy T. about Twilight on the Erie RV Resort.

What you should know

Seasonal operation: Most tent campgrounds close between late October and early May. Red's Twilight on the Erie operates specifically from April 15 to October 31, while Holiday Hill Campground runs from May 1 to October 14.

Site accessibility varies: Some campgrounds have challenging access for larger vehicles. At Twilight on the Erie, one camper noted, "Almost all of the sites are not even close to level. Not a big issue with a fifth wheel but a real hassle with a motorcoach."

Primitive vs. developed options: The area offers a spectrum of tent camping experiences. The Jonestead provides walk-in tent sites with basic amenities including drinking water and toilets but no showers, appealing to those seeking minimal facilities.

Tips for camping with families

Look for speed restrictions: Campgrounds with strict speed limits often prioritize child safety. Rachel T. appreciates that at Twilight on the Erie, "The speed limit is 5 MPH and they mean it.... Kids on bikes and having a good time in the enormous play area and the pool far enough from the campsites but close to the store."

Consider noise levels: Campgrounds with many activities can be louder. One camper at Holiday Hill Campground cautions: "There is a lot to do for kids & teens, but that makes it loud with kids running through your site. So if that bothers you, plan ahead to get a site away from the main area."

Food options for kids: Some campgrounds offer food service for families who want a break from cooking. At Dream Lake, a camper notes, "The snack house food is great, if you don't feel like cooking they offer a nice menu almost anyone would love."

Tips from RVers

Site leveling challenges: Many campgrounds in the region have uneven sites. A reviewer at Twilight on the Erie reports, "We changed sites three times and finally resigned ourselves to not being leveled."

Cell service considerations: Reception varies throughout the region. One camper at Holiday Hill Campground notes, "Verizon reception is consistent at 3 bars," which is important for those needing to stay connected while tent camping.

Seasonal site availability: Campgrounds with many seasonal occupants may have limited availability for short-term tent campers. A Holiday Hill Campground visitor observed, "There seemed to be a lot of regulars and seasonal sites here, which meant that short term full hook up sites were harder to get."
