Swan Bay Resort - The 1000 Islands Premier RV Park & Marina

    This is a great park.

We stayed at Swan Bay Resort in Alexandria Bay, NY, for our last trip this year. Spoiler alert… we had a great stay!

This is a great park. It’s an easy mile from I-81 and just 10-minutes drive to Alexandria Bay downtown. The staff was great— friendly and helpful. Our waterfront pull-IN site was a level concrete pad and gravel with FHU and everything worked great. Oh, and the best part was our view of the St. Lawrence River with passing ocean liners and lots of migrating birds.

The park has 2 swimming pools, a tiki bar, a food truck, and nice communal hang-out areas. There’s a marina with pontoon boat rentals. They put on Octoberfest during our stay which featured a live band and food and craft vendors.

There are plenty of restaurants and stores nearby. Adjacent to the entrance is a self-service car wash with bay large enough for motorhomes.

I have nothing bad to say about this place and encourage you to visit when you can.

    Exactly what we needed

Lower Beverly Lake camp ground gave us the experience we needed. With a creek side site, water and electricity hook up, lots for the kids to do and activities on site planned by the camp ground it was such a lovely weekend. The lake was perfect and the beach was great for little kids and big with very little seaweed. Everyone was friendly and it’s has the perfect atmosphere with any type of site you could look for.

Excellent place! Went for Solar Eclipse

a 20 mile ride of just woods on a bumpy road. Pretty cool! Surprisingly the place wasn't that populated as I expected it to be. I went to a accessible campsite near the dam so I can pull stuff i needed from my car. The restaurant in the town had great food, the staff were nice, and had two cute dogs!

    Nice KOA, great owners

The sites are small, but there are mature trees between them & woodsy areas around the campsites. The campground is clean and well kept. The laundry room and bathrooms were clean. I didn’t have a chance to use the deck or the indoor pool.

The owners made me feel welcome from the minute I arrived. They went above & beyond for me.

The facilities are not wheelchair accessible. The owners said that they are working on that.

    Cranberry Lake

    Perfect Camping Spot!

So far this has been the best campground we have experienced in NY. Cranberry Lake is massive and absolutely gorgeous. The people that work here are very nice and helpful. Try to get a site on the water. Pretty good privacy site to site. The hike up and around Bear Mountain was a good workout and fun experience for our whole family (littlest is 6). We cannot wait to get back there and camp again!

    Beautiful but cramped

Beautiful campground. The ladies at the check in point were very nice and helpful! Bathrooms were clean (no hot water). Just didn't expect the plots to be so small with no privacy. Thought we chose a plot in an area with tents only, but there was a massive camper right beside us with noisy people. I would go back again if I could pick a site that had the neighboring ones not reserved, to get a little more privacy.

    An island paradise

Having both camped, and trained with my SAR Unit, on Stillwater Reserve, I must say it's a wonderful place to "get lost" (voluntarily at least)!

Cleanest, best run and close to all attractions

Extremely clean, well run and has the most options for all kinds of camping. The grounds are spotless, as are the bathrooms and showers. There are several hosts, so help is always available. The campground is conveniently located near many of the attractions.

    1000 Islands Campground

Good Campground, but sites are a little small and tight. Owner is super friendly and helpful

We arrived on July 5th for 5 nights. Our original site was listed at 55’, but there was no way our 43’ camper would fit, nor make the tight turn into it. The owner quickly moved us to another site and we’re happy with the result. I only gave a 3/5 since I reserve 4’s and 5’s for parts with more amenities and larger sites.

    Very quiet place

Campsite is very clean and peaceful. Bugs are a minimum. Bathrooms are great- showers with nice and hot water. Down sides- lake front campsites are all on a slope- minimum flat space. Also- depending on day- EXTREMELY VERY WINDY AND COLD! But the view is beautiful.

    Wonderful family weekend

We loved our visit and didn’t feel like we were right on top of other campers . Lots of play areas for kids to play on, lovely beach area, lots of fun activities for the kids. We brought our bikes and were happily surprised to find they had a bike park. Fishing , fire truck rides . We were able to order pizza and burgers and have them delivered right to our campsite with in minutes. My kids said it was the best weekend they have had camping. A very large campground with lots of hidden gems we discovered as we explored riding bikes around . They sell breakfast and lunch on the Saturday while we were there which was very helpful for a large family . Download the app suggested at check in so you can keep up with all the activities through the day

Long Point State Park - Thousand Islands

    Rained out, site to wet.

We arrived at Long Point to find out that the site is very wet. Gave us option on that site or 2 others. Took a different site and buried our class c up to rear axel, could not stay here 3 days later and still no refund from Reserve America. We wish there was some way to notify us before we drove 3 hours to get there @ $5.00 a gallon.

    My favorite

We've camped here every year but it's getting difficult to get in here. We've camped all over from tents to all kind of campers. Never stayed in cabins but been inside. It's beautiful park. Goose bay on one side St Lawrence River on other. Every site is beautiful with rocks. But the rocks make it beautiful. We love sitting on a big rocks, watching sunsets and ships go by. Playground, private bathrooms, boat launch, docks, beach and fishing.

    Only car accessible campsite

Was a great camp site very big and had a trail that lead down to the water. This campsite is right down the road from the fire tower trail.

    Nice kayaking spot

My wife and I kayaked to Long Island and stayed for a weekend. It was quiet and had the whole island to our self. Would recommend if you want to break away from technology because you get zero service out there

    Peaceful!

This is my go-to campground when I need to relax and reflect. Beautiful lakeside sites and always a cool breeze from Lake Ontario. Staff have always been friendly and helpful.

Will be nice when it’s sorted out

Association Island is a great prospect, a failed KOA recently acquired by Sun Outdoors who are clearly struggling to get it up to scratch. We stayed three nights. The internet was down for 24 hours, there was no hot water in the showers because we were told the propane had run out, the laundry machines were tired and ineffective, garbage was overflowing behind the dumpster, there was 20% occupancy being late season, yet some staff guy had time to drive over and tell me we were 10 minutes late vacating our site. Incidentally our "elite" site H73 was overrun by mites, probably due to the lack of grounds maintenance. This place has great potential but Sun management needs to get a grip.

    Cranberry Lake

Great location if you time it right

First thing about Cranberry Lake: the staff are wonderful. We arrived when the check in staff had the day off. Not a problem we only needed wood which was available just down the street from the campground. No need, the ranger, who let us know the overworked staff was off, brought it to our site once he had figured out the key. Sweet. Our site was on the uphill slope so we had some road noise due to that. We walked a bit of the campground until we realized it's larger than first assumed. I will say do your homework, check out the site photos which you can easily find online. Get a waterfront site but be aware the privacy isn't great at many sites, at least the ones we saw. There is a shower house which is great but be ready to drive to it, as I said the campground is bigger than expected! Some sites are super close which would be great for groups who may like to visit or it could be a nightmare with loud folks. The lake is beautiful. We weren't set up for it but if you can plan for the sunset view I think it's worth rescheduling your trip for the right site. Brand new sewer dump area for folks who need it.

    So much to do!

We loved camping here. There were many things to do for kids but also adults. They have pontoon and kayak rentals. Golf cart rentals. Cool bikes for kids. They had a little farmers market on the Saturday which was great. Sites can feel a little packed and we couldn’t see fireworks from the campground on 7/4 but overall loved this place and already booked next year!
