Within Burnham Point State Park along the St. Lawrence River, this NYS Office of Parks campground operates seasonally from late May through early September. The forested campground features fewer than 50 sites, with some positioned directly along the riverbank and others set back on higher ground. Campers can access the property by car or boat, though several reviewers mention the access road conditions can be challenging.
Sites include electric, water, and sewer hookups, with tent-only options available closer to the water. The St. Lawrence River provides direct swimming access and boat launching facilities. Tucker B. notes the campground "was super convenient to be able to get work done via my hotspot right from our site" with AT&T service. Reviews consistently highlight the maintained restrooms and hot showers. Wind conditions can be significant, particularly for waterfront sites, which tend to slope rather than offer level ground.
The location serves as a base for exploring the Thousand Islands region, with Cape Vincent about 10 miles away. Nearby options include Cedar Point State Park Campground and Angel Rock Waterfront Cottages & Vacation Homes. The campground sells ice and snacks on-site. Reservations are recommended for waterfront sites, especially during peak summer months.
Description
Burnham Point State Park is small and quiet, with lightly-wooded campsites and great opportunities for boating, fishing, and relaxing. Boaters can explore local towns, islands, and historic sites for miles up and down the scenic river. Anglers can catch popular game fish like bass, pike, muskellunge, and walleye. In addition to tent and trailer campsites, the park has boat docks, a playground, and picnic areas.
