Aguirre Spring Recreation Area and Campground

Many sites available, trees around to give privacy, first come first serve, easy pay (cash, check or credit card). Trash cans at most sites. There is water available although make sure you have a 25-30 foot hose to get to it. You can’t drive up to it. Quite a few toilets around although did not use. Nice hikes around and beautiful views from most sites.

Nice clean place with a great view. $7 per night camping and full of families.

Site 8 was spacious with a covered picnic table and pretty level.

However, the camp host’s behavior was unexpectedly rude and accusatory. The only time I saw him, he approached me without so much as a greeting and immediately asked if I’d had trouble with the gate the night before (which closes at 6 PM). I explained that I hadn’t left the campground in two days. Despite that, he took a photo of my Jeep and claimed that surveillance footage showed me breaking into the park—then warned me to expect a visit from the rangers. When I tried to clarify, he abruptly drove off. Later, while walking my dog, I saw him chatting with another camper who also had a Jeep. That guest admitted to the rangers that he was the one who had damaged the gate.  Had the host handled the situation like a civilized adult, I would give the campground 4 stars.

We loved this place. We have a small 24’ trailer. We were worried about getting up to this spot but we were just fine. Our site #16, was not level and we had to do quite a bit to get situated but it was so worth it! The trail near by was lovely with amazing views. The rocks of the Organ mts turn pink at sunrise so be sure to get up early. Lots of bugs. Jurassic grasshoppers and lots of wasps. There were wasp nests in one of the bathrooms. Bathrooms were clean though.

This campsite is one of the worst I’ve been at in yeeeaaasrrrrsss. So many people. So many RUDE people. People who literally just want to party and play extremely loud music and keep their generator on all day and night. There’s supposed to be a no noise or generators after 10pm but there’s no enforcement. On top of that, the bathrooms are AWFUL. There are so many flies in the toilet it’s actually impossible to go, so bring your own LNT toilet and a tent for it since everyone will see you otherwise. Oh, and the gnats are INSANE. I only gave this place 2 stars because it’s gorgeous. Too bad it’s a magnet for the worst kinds of campers.

There are 55 total campsites here. First come, first serve. Smaller RVs only as a winding road takes you here and the spots are small. Sites are close together but there is good privacy between spots. The views are amazing! Good cell signal.

This was a very enjoyable camping location, stayed here for a couple days, myself and my girlfriend enjoyed the hiking trail, the mountains and scenery that nature offers. Each camp space has a fire pit with a nice picnic table, you could easily park a 20+ft RV on the parking space.

Aguirre Springs Campground was even better than expected! The views were stunning and there was plenty of space and privacy at each site. Our favorite spot during our NM/AZ roadtrip!

Very scenic BLM campground. $7 a night ($3.50 seniors with pass). Each site shaded table and trash bin. Only vehicles up to 23 ft.

Great sites with close and clean toilets. We found a few level spots that would work for rooftop tents, but most spots seemed a little rocky and uneven for tents. There is a lovely 4 mile hike that loops up in the mountains by the sites.

We stayed with the doggos and our son on a RTT and had a great time other people are camping and might be too loud for your taste but not too much to ruin it. Views are amazing especially from the hikes

Great campsite right outside of las cruces. Very pretty drive in but easy to fly by if you’re going too fast on the main highway. Good spot to stay if you want to hike any of the trails in the Organ mountains

This campground is good for tent and very small rv camping. The views of the Organ mountains were amazing with plenty of hiking trails.

Very windy road back to campground. Putable water at beginning of road. Get it if you need it before you go up. Pit toilets, just okay. Sites are awesome! Spread out. Nice fire pits and covered picnic tables. Tucked right under mountain. Great views!

Beautiful camp grounds! There was plenty of space so we still got to have a fairly secluded experience. Some sites can be difficult to find a flat area for a tent.

They seem to be operating summer hours now, so the gates actually close at 8pm!

Watch out for ant mounds, flies, and gnats when setting up though.

It really is beautiful here. Southeast New Mexico has mountains believe it or not. The camp is nestled up against one. It’s Memorial Day weekend and not too crowded. Highly recommend for the price (basically free). If you are tent camping and low maintenance this place rocks. If you have a huge rig I’m not even sure I would want to make the drive up the road to the camp site. Spots are small, so you would need to find the best spot if you have an RV or Trailer.

We stayed here for 3 nights in early April.  The campground was less than 50% full so very quiet and peaceful.  The hiking was great and it was an easy drive for a day trip to White Sands which was delightful.   The bathrooms were clean and the sites simple with no hookups but a shaded picnic table at each.  It was windy for one day but otherwise it was a lovely spot.

Beyond amazing campsite tucked up against an incredible expanse of towering mountains. Great hikes nearby. Clean out toilets. Sites are very well spaced—I felt like I was the only one around!

Great camping area with a variety of camp sites. All site are closely located to vault toilets that are kept clean. Each site has, pavilion, fire pit, charcoal grill, and bear proof trash cans. It does get busy, for best selection of spots arrive late morning to early afternoon.

This BLM is tucked in the midst of God’s creation and is well worth the drive in alone, let alone the peaceful stay.

The host is very welcoming and nice, she is about 4 miles before the campgrounds and has water for fill ups! I have a small 3.5 water kit so I was able to carry my kit to the hookup, however, for larger rigs prepare to have a 50ft (or longer) hookup.

The 4 miles of witnessing a backdrop of heaven makes you want to go the speed limit or under, nice twisties and curves up to the pay station (cash or check only).

I stayed at site 35, and although I did not completely setup my over-landing gear, I enjoyed my stay. This particular site has a slight incline but does have a small area that is leveled.

It was very quiet and peaceful here, has vault toilets, trash cans and picnic tables with shedding.

I will definitely be back! And, you cannot beat the $7 nightly stay (especially for the amenities on BLM ; hell, I’d pay for the views)

It’s tucked away off the main road so it’s very quiet at night (assuming neighbors aren’t an issue). It’s felt far enough apart so you had privacy. Several vault toilets and trash cans around the campground. There’s 2 loops, 55 sites total. Each site has a grill and a covered picnic table. There’s 2 hiking trails in the area and beautiful sunsets. There’s no water at the campground but water at the front gate by the host (3 mi from campground). The winter hours are 8am-6pm so if you don’t arrive at the gate by 6, you’re locked out. $7/night and definitely recommend!

Beautiful, picturesque campground with great hiking trails and wonderful, reasonably priced campsites except... after feeling sick and noticing what I (and the rangers thought) was campfire soot on the composite wood tables, I determined it was toxic black mold. It stuck to the back of my tablecloth; I had to toss that. I also left a week earlier than planned because I reacted so bad - got subsequent ear infection from my allergy. Of course I advised the rangers of the issue (April 2021) and I heard through the grapevine, that they attempted to treat the table tops with bleach but I was long gone. All the picnic tables are covered with a metal canopy for shade so can't dry out when wet. They might consider replacing those tables with metal ones. Narrow, winding road going in and out so only recommend very small RVs/TTs or tents. If in a tent during Spring/Fall, bring sturdy stakes and guy lines - it gets VERY windy up there! Sadly, I can't go back.

Beautiful spot. More amenities than I expected. Prettier than most national park campgrounds. The road in is fully paved but it is winding… a sign out front warns that trailers >23’ are not recommended. We had no trouble with our 19’ trailer. The site has fire ring, grill, trash can, covered picnic table, stone paving. Really nice. There are pull through and back in sites. We came mid August… there were only two other camping sites occupied. We enjoyed the sunset then rain set in for the entire night. It really is a gorgeous site. Way more amenities than you’d expect for boondocking.

Middle of nowhere, gorgeous little hideaway campground. Many sites with a sunset view, covered picnic tables, fire pits, and fantastic 360 views. Lots of sites too, had no issue finding a spot on a busy summer weekend. A little strange that they close the gates at 8pm..but other than that it was perfect for us! Highly recommended!

We happened to arrive on one of the rare rainiest days of the year. Almost every site was open except for 2-3 other campers. The road was well paved and clear, and there’s really not a poor spot on the loop. The rain stopped for about 3 hours in the evening giving us amazing sunset views. We were able to move the picnic table that’s under each awning to side so that we could set up our two person tent with more protection from the rain. Unbeatable views with very close access to bathrooms. Please note-no showers or sinks!

Arrived and only a handful of sites were taken. I took my time picking out a site that was private. All of the sites are different, so it’s helpful to get out of the car to check out what will work for you. The camp hosts called right back and answered my questions. Gorgeous views, especially sunrise! Only negative is that the pit toilets were infested with flies.

Everything about the site was nice from the multiple tent set up spots to the shelter which came in handy since it was rainy when we went! The views are unbeatable! Would stay again in a heartbeat but make sure you get there early to get a spot!
