Beautiful beyond compaee

El Morro the second oldest national monument (Devil’s Tower being the oldest) nestled between the Zuni Pueblo and El Malpais National monument outside of Grants NM. The view includes pictographs, inscriptions of travelers as far back as the 11th century. Open Wednesday through Sunday a wonderful place to visit. On-site primitive campground with onsite water and dump station also has vault toilets. The campground sits in a natural zero light pollution with amazing stargazing opportunities

Great spot by El Malpais

We ended up camping in the truck bed here after a few other remote sites. The clean showers and bathrooms were greatly appreciated after a few days of roughing it and we were able to restock our water before continuing on. Most people staying in the park seemed to be full time residents. The vibe was something along the lines of the "good Ol' days" of family vacationing with small eclectic parks. There's an on-site brewery and bar but we didn't stop in. If you're tent or car camping be sure to arrive during the day or talk to someone prior to checking out as those sites are less expensive than the RV sites. Frenchy, a friendly Canadian ex-pat retired uranium miner, was on site to help with any questions. Would recommend for anybody taking a break from boondocking or heading to El Malpais.

Not open December through March

The road is closed to 6 mile canyon and the dispersed camping there; I stayed outside the fence for the night and had no issues. You can hear the highway but its not a huge issue.

Easy stop on the way to Flagstaff

We stopped here for the night and caught a nice sunset. The gate to dispersed camping is closed but we parked outside of the gate with no issues for the evening

Nice spot to stop

It’s not scenic by any means but, it is close to Mal Pais National Monument (across the street) and the people that work here are super nice. Great price for a full hookup with clean bathrooms and showers.

Yup, it's dispersed camping.

Nothing fancy. Close to I-40 but you can get far enough away to limit road noise. Road is good enough to drag a camper back. Sites are pretty decent sized. Good place to camp for the night of going climbing around Gallup.

Great big rig safe location on route 40

Added to favorites will be stopping here when traveling route 40 across country.

We have learned to avoid KOA’s with our cyclone 4270 (44’ triple axel 5th wheel), all seemed to have been laid out with camper sizes of the 60’s and 70’s.

USA RV PARK is sized and laid out for modern rigs. We reserved a large rig sight to be safe but I did see other cyclones in standard pull through spots that I would have been comfortable using.

USA RV PARK is clean and quiet with the one exception of being on airport flight path. Flights were not that often but are load if your outside or have doors open. We were not bothered while inside or sleeping.

One point to be aware of when planning to stay at USA RV PARK is that map apps seem to have the location wrong when coming from the east. The park acknowledged this is an issue when coming from east and said to use exit 16 and follow signs not the map apps.

Dropped pin at entrance and copied gps location

Free Dispersed Camping

This is a nice area with free dispersed camping. The road in is dirt and gravel and could easily get rutted out when rainy. There are several spots along the road the first being right after the cattle guard after the sign. There are more spots farther in when you get to the trees. Although the road does get worse the farther in you go. Near highway 40 but far enough away the noise doesn’t bother you.

Great over night spot

Very friendly registration person. Very clean restrooms and showers. Clean level sites.

Great Experience

Called late to get a reservation and we were able to do over the phone. Very helpful and friendly. Perfect for a night pit stop, clean bathrooms and showers - great pressure and hot water. Hookups and wi fi was great. Would stop by again if we were in the area.
