120 Acres easy access to I-40. (One mile of county maintained primitive road to property, dirt roads on property) Several boondocking/tent areas to choose from whether you enjoy wide open space or nestled near beautiful Juniper trees. Limited electric sites, we do not offer trash removal, dump station or water filling facility. Pack it in/Pack it out please. Community house open 24 hours for bathroom, showers, cooking. (donations accepted).

Recommend arriving before dark, black skies here unless you arrive under a full moon! Please follow map that we will provide upon booking. GPS wants to lead you down a "damaged road". This road is marked in RED on the map and now has a sign saying "DAMAGED ROAD", in large red letters, to deter campers from entering. Please drive all the way up the county road before turning left.

We are in the challenging process of cleaning/rehabbing the property with the intentions of stewarding a working Eco-village with the focus on helping travelers/nomads. Please join our Facebook group LunaGaia Nomadic Village and/or Nomads Helping Nomads Network (website in progress).

Feel free to join us for morning coffee and conversation as we really enjoy meeting the folks who stay with us.

The campground offers a respite from the heat in a setting of aspen and mature ponderosa pine trees, approximately 6 miles south of Fort Wingate. This is the most recently renovated campground on the Mt. Taylor Ranger District. This area has a rich history of railroad logging, and the original town of McGaffey was built in the vicinity of McGaffey Lake a few miles down the road. Remember to pay attention to road conditions and your vehicle's abilities before driving off of the main road.

Private RV park in on Hiway 66, close to Interstate 40 in Gallup, NM

Well-run RV park.  Many sites with full hookups, drive through sites.  Bathrooms were clean, nice hot showers.  Pleasant staff.  Gift shop in office.

    USA RV Park

    Convenient, clean, and welcoming!

We were so grateful to stumble upon USA RV Park on our recent trip through New Mexico.  We were dealing with snow all the way from Colorado to Gallup, and decided about an hour out of Gallup to stop for the night.  We called USA RV Park, and while no one answered, they returned our call within the half hour.  They graciously accommodated our 2 trailers last minute with full hookups!  The campsite itself is large, clean, well marked, and very nice restrooms!  The store was well stocked with what we needed (including a tent repair kit for our pop up!).  The owner, John, was very kind, helpful, and a delight to chat with.  We filled our propane tank up on site and were on our way the next day!  Highly recommend! :)

    Clean and simple in Gallup

We stayed here two nights, one going and one coming back. This is a clean, simple family run camp ground in Gallup, NM. It’s basically a large gravel camp ground with few trees, but very well maintained. There are like 177 sites, and very few long term campers here. We liked it for what it was and the price. Recommend it if you need a stop for the night.

    10/10

My husband and I were skeptical to stay at such an uber patriotic site on stolen land, (we are NOT AT ALL the target audience) but it exceed expectations at every turn. Truly a 10/10 experience from staff, to sites to amenities.

We only stayed the night, but there was so much to take advantage I was almost disappointed we didn’t stay longer.

Huge pool, large chess game, community dinners (no vegetarian/ vegan options) ice cream socials, camp store, etc.

Nice bathrooms, didn’t use laundry. WiFi and ATT& Verizon worked at site. Gravel sites needed leveling with full hook ups. Picnic table came with site.

    Great Spot in Gallup

This is a really nice RV park on the West side of Gallup with easy access to I-40. It was a perfect overnight stop but would be good for longer stays as well. Access through the park is great, sites are gravel, level, and good size. We had a pull through site which was about 80 feet long and nice and wide. They also have back in sites and tent sites. We had a full hookup site and the connections were in great shape and located just where they needed to be. There are some trees between some sites but most of the area is pretty open. Some of the trees are large enough to block a satellite dish. They offer cable TV but we did not try that. They have free wifi which was decent. The restrooms, showers, and laundry rooms were clean and good size as well. There is a small dog park in the back and there is also a dump station. Check in was easy and the staff were friendly and helpful. They also have a large gift shop and a small area with groceries. They offer a barbeque on some nights which is cooked right there behind the office. Cell service from AT&T and Verizon was great. We paid $37 for one night with Escapees discount. There is clear pride of ownership here.

    Clean, Patriotic, Friendly

Called day of and was able to reserve a 30AMP spot with full hook ups $39. As other reviews mentioned it is exceptionally clean, there is pride in ownership and America with a life size carved memorial to the armed services. Great play area for kids, giant chess and a pool (closed due to Covid). They were selling homemade pie and pulled pork sandwiches at check in also which was a fun surprise. A few cute log cabins to rent also. All gravel and not a lot of trees, no view but a clean and safe overnight for sure!

Great big rig safe location on route 40

Added to favorites will be stopping here when traveling route 40 across country.

We have learned to avoid KOA’s with our cyclone 4270 (44’ triple axel 5th wheel), all seemed to have been laid out with camper sizes of the 60’s and 70’s.

USA RV PARK is sized and laid out for modern rigs. We reserved a large rig sight to be safe but I did see other cyclones in standard pull through spots that I would have been comfortable using.

USA RV PARK is clean and quiet with the one exception of being on airport flight path. Flights were not that often but are load if your outside or have doors open. We were not bothered while inside or sleeping.

One point to be aware of when planning to stay at USA RV PARK is that map apps seem to have the location wrong when coming from the east. The park acknowledged this is an issue when coming from east and said to use exit 16 and follow signs not the map apps.

Dropped pin at entrance and copied gps location

    Excellent Campground with Unexpected Amenities

When driving through Gallup, one doesn't expect to find such a great place to land on Route 66. On the surface it may appear to be a great over-nighter location - which it is! Level pull-through sites with a picnic table.  But it's so much more than that. First the business seems to be comprised of  family-owned and operated. They have excellent amenities including a lovely pool and playground area. Their shop is absolutely GREAT. The laundry area, showers, dish-washing area and other services are excellent.  Sites include electric, water and a picnic table. A dump station is positioned right by the exit. We had an unexpected delay for four days due to a medical situation, and they recommended a doctor who helped immensely, and they worked with us day to day to keep us in our spot as needed. Highly recommend this RV Park! Great folks!

    Peaceful Stay

We stayed for a night on our way East. The property is beautiful but it definitely needs a lot of work. The roads getting there are rough and I wouldn't dare attempt in the rain. If you want something different than your typical RV park this place might be good for you!

    A Diamond in the rough

Janet was so wonderful and welcoming.  She is in the process of getting this property set up and could certainly use some help.  It is a beautiful spot just a short drive from the highway.  We had a 30amp hook up on a level site.  We could get our Verizon signal.  There is a second site with electric but it is not level or actually a site.  I think this would be a great place for anyone boondocking, tenting or RV 30 amp. Give it a try if you are in the area.

    McGaffey Campground

Tall trees, far from I40, clean bathrooms

Great little campground if you love quiet. No hookups whatsoever so fill your water before you get here. The restrooms are some of the cleanest we’ve seen so there’s a big plus! The forest service website says 22’ max trailer but that’s not what we found! I’m in a 38’ motor home and there were NO tight spots at all! Site 10 is back in but we had 30’ to spare. No tow car this time. There’s an east 3 mile trail for those who like to hike/walk. You are 10 miles from I40 so no vehicular noise to deal with. NO cell service - at least AT&T so bring your Starlink if you’ve got it.

Gorgeous place, beautiful landscape (awesome sunsets and sunrises), very welcoming hosts and a real sense of community.

This is NOT your ordinary campground.

    less expensive... quieter...

Not far from the petrified forest.

    Beautiful views in the canyon

Went about 2 miles up the road to find the last good spot. Found a few sites off of the road before this but all occupied. We got a site for 2 RVs that protected us from an impending windstorm. Sites not very level but managed to get the RVs level enough. Thoroughly enjoyed the area. Biked 6 miles up the road. Had cell service (Verizon and T-mobile).

    Perfect 1 night stop

A little nervous by the other reviews but it was getting late and we needed a place to hookup. The website for reserving was difficult to navigate on my phone but it all worked out. No staff on site that we could see so we just pulled into an open spot & hooked up. Beautiful/unique location. Bathrooms were open for us to use, warm, & clean. Didn’t need a key like the reservation had said. Probably not the best campground for tent camping due to gravel lots, but for our 30 ft RV, we had no trouble. We didn’t have a chance to explore the area but would definitely come back.

    Red Rock Park & Campground

Dusty park against the red rocks

This city-operated campground is bordered by highway on one side and red rocks on the other. There are events at the open arena, featuring rodeos, Native American celebrations, and an annual balloon festival in early December. It's beautiful to watch the balloons float about the red rocks in the park and there are a lot of places to scramble on the rocks yourself.

The campground itself is dusty and relatively open; you will hear road traffic. I was there in early December and most of the campground was reserved for the balloon festival. There are electric and water hook-ups, but not sewer. Arrive before 4:30 to obtain the key to the rest room if needed.

They don't provide much information at all on the website, you need to call to get it or just stop by. If you need a place to park overnight, this is a reasonable option. The Petrified Forest is another 90 minutes down the road; El Morro National Monument, Acoma Pueblo, and El Malpais National Monument are a few of the interesting places to visit.  We enjoyed dinner/take-out at Dickey's BBQ just 4 miles away. And Jerry's Cafe is popular Mexican restaurant, may require a wait, but it's the sort of place where the locals eat and the waitresses know them by name.
