Sitting "on a plateau over the lake," Lake Farmington gives campers an elevated position above what appears to be a municipal water impoundment on the edge of Flora Vista. The 25 gravel sites are divided across two levels, with canopied picnic tables and mostly level pads that accommodate tents and RVs alike, though only a few spots fit larger rigs. No hookups are available, and the terrain is open with minimal tree cover, so shade comes from the canopies rather than natural vegetation.
Water access is a consistent draw here. A beach-like area west of the camping sites gives access to paddleboard, kayak, and float rentals, and fishing is permitted with a valid license. The lake itself is a human-made impoundment, and signage around the water intake area warrants attention. Gates lock automatically at 10 pm and reopen at 6 am, so late arrivals or early departures need to be planned accordingly. A seven-day maximum stay applies.
Fees run $5 per site plus $1 per person per night, putting it well within budget-friendly territory for camping near Flora Vista. Pit toilets are on-site, and cleanliness varies by visit. Reservations can be made by phone, and staff are consistently described as courteous and responsive. Cell service is available. Nearby resupply is straightforward, with options including Walmart — Farmington Supercenter a few miles away. This campground works best for overnight travelers, paddlers, or anglers who need an affordable, no-frills base with direct lake access.
