Privacy between sites: Butterfly Camping Resort offers vegetation barriers between campsites. "The sites are cozy and each lined with natural shrubbery and in some cases fencing. They're well maintained and raked between campers. The store and game room were newer and clean. Some of the cleanest bath houses I've seen at a campground," writes Tina D.
Beach access: Several cabin campgrounds provide easy shore access or beach equipment. At Sea Pirate Campground, "We also went to Long Beach Island and were happy with how clean and quiet the beach was. We stayed in the 500 section which is close to a lot of the activities," reports Stephanie H.

The sites had good tree coverage and we didn't feel like we were right on top of the next site. There was tons of stuff to do. Varying amenities: Brendan T. Byrne State Forest cabins have more primitive setups. "Very Decent Camp in the Pine Barrens, Lots of potable water hydrants around the campground so not far of a walk to fill any water needs you may have. Showers and bathrooms are ok, kept pretty clean."
Ticks and insects: Spring through fall camping requires tick prevention in wooded areas. "Beautiful campground was clean and well maintained. It's very close to civilization but you get the camping experience. There were a lot of ticks when we stayed in May so keep that in mind," warns a visitor to Bass River State Forest.
Reservation requirements: Holiday weekends fill quickly at cabin facilities, especially July 4th and Labor Day. Baker's Acres Campground requires deposits for cabin reservations during peak summer months.

The heated swimming pool was large and the water crystal clear. The store was stocked with typical essentials like supplies, fire wood, and snacks," notes Matt S. about Sea Pirate Campground.
Kid-friendly terrain: State forest cabins offer natural play areas. "We have been camping at Bass River since I was a baby. The newest addition of extra pet friendly sites have made it even better because we can bring the pup. The sites are a great size and many are set back enough that you have privacy."

Site size considerations: Pine Cone Resort sites accommodate small to mid-size RVs and cabin guests. "Camp sites are close together with no privacy but decent sized. You get a table, fire ring without a grill, water, electric, and enough room for a large cabin tent or a few small tents."
Cabin alternatives: Cabin availability can be limited during peak season, causing some travelers to use RVs instead. "We stayed here for 5 days and it was ok. The trip was supposed to be 7 days but when I got up at 6 to take a run there was Nancy right outside my door. We cut the trip short but it is a nice campground minus the creepy people."
