Family friendly

Our family had a great time at this campground. My boys loved the large play area and had a blast on the hayride.

Really cool tent camping

I’ve never been camping and really wanted to try it. I tried this place because it has so many amenities. My two teen kids loved the pool and the basketball court. The adults there were friendly and welcoming. I would give five stars but there was this one guy that worked there who gave me a ridiculous attitude when I asked “where can we get popcorn?” He responded “the popcorn is for people who are watching the movie, are you watching the movie? No.” When I responded “I’m here to watch the movie.” He then told me “If you sit here for about five minutes I’m sure you can still get free popcorn.” I left feeling insulted. I feel like it might be because I’m Hispanic, but who knows for sure. Everyone else was 110% lovely. I’ll definitely go again.

Convenient location, nice lots

Campground is nice, wooded, level, hard-packed sand lots. The roads are narrow getting to the ground and very tight inside especially for larger rigs. We have a 36ft, 5th wheel and it was tight getting into the spot. The roads are also uneven. Otherwise the full hookup site was good with a picnic table and fire-ring. Staff were very friendly and helpful at check-in. Cell service, (Verizon), was weak and the local wi-fi ok when it worked. It went down during the second night and never came back on. Location is convenient for central Jersey shore. Lots of full time rigs and seems to be very kid friendly. Overall very happy with the campground and will be back when in the area.

Fun Family Campground!

Very Rustic family own/run place. From the time we arrived to when we left, the staff was GREAT! Very polite, courteous and helpful! Sites are a bit small for lg. rigs but we managed. Roads are a bit tight to maneuver as well. Multiple sites for tents and smaller units. Many larger site are taken up by seasonal patrons. We are here in the off season and it was pretty quiet. Lots of room between sites. Very wooded in surroundings. They even have a few cabins if you want. Very Family/Kid friendly campground. Playground, swimming pool, Bocce Ball, Horseshoes, Volleyball, Game room and Basketball court(in repairs). Many kids just road their bikes around the gravel/dirt roads. Small hiking trail if you want to go stretch your legs. They have a laundry room with 3 washers and 4 dryers. Restrooms in a couple of locations on property. Nice store if you need anything. DVD's to use(no charge). Wood for the fire ring(aka: tire rim!)

Rustic and Classic Campground

We stayed at Baker’s Acres Campground in Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, for a weekend in mid-August. So did the rains of Hurricane Henri!

Our site(#Zoo-1) was a level back-in with 50-amp electric, water, sewer, and cable. It was easy to pull in and accommodates larger rigs. The hook-ups were all well-maintained and worked fine. We had plenty of room to fit our car too. The site included a picnic table and fire ring. My favorite thing about this campground is that most of the sites have plenty of trees and shrubs for semi-privacy, shade, and a rustic feel.

This campground has been family run for over 50-years and has an interesting history that’s worth reading more about. Our site is located across from the pickle ball court which used to be a petting zoo(now the site# should make sense, right?). We came because we wanted to experience one of New Jersey’s oldest campgrounds. We liked the interesting vignettes they created around the campground as well as the goldfish pond near the office and store.

Baker’s Acres is well-maintained. The amenities include a swimming pool, lots of sports courts/fields, and a bunch of family-friendly scheduled activities. There is a camp store with all the usual items as well as bath and laundry facilities. The wifi service was ok, but costs$1 per day per device. Our Verizon cell service worked fine.

The front office staff were all friendly and we love that, especially when checking in at a new campground.

Drive time to Tuckerton Seaport is about 10-minutes and Long Beach Island is about 35-minutes depending on traffic. There are plenty of stores within a 5-mile drive if you should need anything including Walmart, super markets, convenience stores, and several restaurants.

Our only minor negative was that our site was sandy dirt which created a bit of a mess, especially after the rain. It is the Jersey shore, after all. This would have been 5 stars if the site had gravel, grass, or was finished with concrete. It’s a pet peeve, but I hate having to constantly clean up to keep the sand out of our RV.

This is a great old-fashioned campground close to LBI. We’ll can’t wait to go back!

Relaxing week near the island

Bakers acres was beautiful. It’s set back in the woods and peaceful and quiet but still has all the amenities to keep my gremlins entertained. We scored a site next to the playground that features a huge monkey bar set up, a ship, and a playhouse complete with kitchen. Not to mention swings and bouncers too. The pool was a lot of fun and kept my little fish busy all day. The staff are all welcoming and helpful. We felt right at home and enjoyed taking the dogs to the new dog park to let out some energy. My favorite part by far was the early morning walks with my coffee through the dirt trails of the campground. We got to enjoy a day at LBI and a night out on the OC boardwalk too since this campground is so convenient to all the area has to offer.

Enjoyable

We just returned from a 4 night trip to Baker's Acres.  The staff was friendly, our site was large, clean, and the most level site we have ever camped on!  We loved the nature trail.  We saw deer every time we walked on it.  My husband and daughter enjoyed the pool.  The playground was nice.  We enjoyed the scavenger hunt and Saturday night entertainment.   There were very few golf carts and all the cars drove cautiously.  We felt our daughter was safe to ride her bike.

Some people might complain about the condition of the roads.  We didn't mind them - it kept people from driving too fast.  The bathhouse at the pool could use an update but it was clean and the toilets flushed and the spigots worked!  The red bathhouse was nice with separate shower/toilet rooms.  Our campsite was a good 7 minute walk from the nearest bathroom which was a bit far so a small bathhouse near the nature trail would have been appreciated.

The trip into LBI was an easy one.  We borrowed beach tags from the camp store for a fee and headed to the Brant Beach section of LBI.

We usually do all of our own cooking at our camper but we did decide to treat ourselves to a meal at Calloways (about 5 minutes away).  They have outdoor dining and mini golf.  In non-Covid times they have some amusement rides.

Nice campground for smaller rigs

Lots of seasonal campers here give this campground a very homey feel. Our site was decently sized, level, and nicely bordered with trees that gives you a sense of privacy. We stayed here immediately after Covid restrictions were eased so the wifi and cable TV were both out but this was not a big deal for us. Backing my rig into the site, and exiting, was a bit challenging due to the angle and size of the service road but we managed well enough and really enjoyed the area as we were near a short hiking path that was great to take the dogs out. The staff was great, considering that they must have been totally busy from the rush of campers trying to get out after the lockdown. Would definitely return.

Can't Go Wrong Here!

This was our 5th year camping at Baker's Acres. Their slogan is "Where friends are made for life" and they couldn't be any more right. This is the friendliest, family run for 50+ years, clean, fun, campground we've been to in a long time.

The Camp Store is large and well stocked. The salt pool is always clean!

Campsites are level and somewhat sandy (You're in the Pine Barrens, it should be expected). The bathhouses near our site were cleaned 2x daily and the best part is, they're private! (Shower, sink, toilet in a 10 room bathhouse).

Check the activities schedule, there is always something fun to do!

Close to LBI and a short drive to Smithville, I highly recommend Baker's Acres!
