Arrowhead Cove and Riverside Adventure Trails offer luxury camping experiences along Lake Mead and the Colorado River. Both locations feature deluxe safari tents, yurts and premium canvas accommodations equipped with real beds, private bathrooms and climate control systems. The waterfront glamping sites provide stunning views and direct water access, with several offering private decks overlooking the crystalline waters. One guest shared, "Total privacy at this hidden beach on Lake Mead. This Cove is sheltered from wind by trees and tall grass. A small peninsula also blocks direct site from the water so this is a very private site." All accommodations include electricity, comfortable furnishings and outdoor dining spaces, creating a boutique camping experience without sacrificing comfort.

Water-based activities dominate the glamping experience with jet ski rentals available directly at several sites and boat-in access to secluded coves. The crystal-clear waters of Lake Mead offer swimming in naturally sheltered areas alongside opportunities for wildlife viewing including various songbirds, Gila monsters, and desert tortoise. A recent visitor mentioned, "The water is the clearest I've ever seen and the water fowl dive freely along the banks. There is a treasure trove of wildlife here apparent just from the birds singing." Bullhead City provides convenient access to dining and shopping within minutes of these glamping destinations. Reservations are recommended, particularly during summer months when these boutique camping experiences book quickly. Most yurt rentals and safari tents remain available year-round, though winter brings cooler temperatures.

Clean and LOTS of sites available

173 campsites available so even on a busy weekend there are places to stay. Large sites with trees in between. Clean bathrooms. Showers and laundry on site. Water available. Great T-mobile service, wifi available. If you are looking for a place to stay the night or a few days, this is recommended. $20/night or $10/night for seniors or access passes.

      Needles KOA

      Deluxe campground, sweltering heat

This is my first time staying at a KOA campground. I'm impressed with how many amenities are provided: pool, laundry room, clubhouse, well-appointed bathroom, and a camp store with reasonable prices. My campsite is tidy and of a generous size. There are only a few shrubs for privacy, but the campground is practically empty so this isn't an issue today.

What is an issue today is the heat. As I write this at 10:11 at night, it is 100° F. When I arrived in Needles this afternoon, it was 114° F. The water that comes out of the spigots here is like bathwater. I started my day in L.A., where it was about 70° F. I knew it would be hotter inland, but I didn't expect it to be this bad. I'll be breaking camp at dawn tomorrow and hurrying back into the air conditioned sanctuary of my car. This campground is probably much more pleasant in the winter.

      Close to all the action

Really a nice campground, nice big spots, tables and a fire pit as well as a laundry room and did I mention clean bathrooms!!! oleander trees space out each camp spot which give you all the privacy anyone could need. Perfect place to ride bikes and it’s a good walking distance to the pier with restaurant, grocery store, fishing and boat rentals. This is like a village in its own. Great area for sure and it’s the perfect time now before it’s to hot.

      An oasis in the heat!

Arrived late on a Sunday and met by a lovely security guard who showed us to a pitch. The pool was an absolute lifesaver in the August heat! Friendly locals (we needed a tin opener!) and several chatted to us in the pool and social room. Site is clean, toilets and shower block spacious and tidy. Book exchange and games/jigsaws. Would highly recommend.

Nice facilities for a tent camper

Nice campsite for tents or RVs. Flushing toilets and running water in the bathroom was nice. Beautiful sunset views, and the hills block all signs of civilization. You feel like you are in the middle of nowhere even though you are 20 minutes from Vegas. We stayed in late March which was a great time to stay. Low 70s during the day and maybe 59 at the coldest part of the nice.

      Not much going on here...

This area has an unheated pool and a rec area that has a pool table, card table and a couch facing a big TV that's equipped with a VCR and a big library of tapes to go with it. They also have a laundry mat here, a pretty well stocked store and a couple of horseshoe pits. The site itself isn't that great, there's no concrete slabs, it's just a big gravel parking lot with a few separation bushes and plants. But it is a decent location because its walking distance from the Colorado River, (and beside it) is the River Front Cafe. The cafe has more of a bar feel, but it has some nice views as you are eating some pretty good food.

T-mobile has great cell service here, and the water pressure is fantastic. Just don't buy gas here in Needles. It's twice the price of any current gas station. Go to one of the other towns that lay right on the outskirts of Needles town.

Las Vegas Bay Campground — Lake Mead National Recreation Area

In the desert, but feels cozy somehow

We landed in Vegas and headed straight out of the city to this campground.  I booked it online, not ever having seen it in person, but I'd stay again in an instant.

We had site 23 - very shaded and "green" - site 24 (not ours) was very open to the desert.

There is a no generator section meant for tents, but we didn't stay there as it seemed fully booked so I picked an RV/tent site at the far end.  And it was lovely.  The site was in the middle of a turn around, so we were in the "donut center" so to speak and it was quiet, shaded and beautiful.  Lot of palms and oleander that gave a lot of privacy. A short walk to the bathroom (hundred yards maybe?) but they were clean and the toilets were the flush kind, not pit kind. Drinking water was available too. There were fire pits at each site and a picnic table. Our site - and I assume most - were dirt/sand mix that made for easy tent set up.  But don't count on getting your stakes into the ground. There were a lot of small rocks around the site - obviously used by many campers to "stake out" the tent with.  We did so as well.

The campground as a whole was a short drive off the main road, but very easy to get to.

      Absolutely I'd stay here again.

Las Vegas Bay Campground — Lake Mead National Recreation Area

      Every site has amazing views

This campsite is about 10 miles from the Boulder Campground and RV Village. All sites has prefect views of the surrounding mountains. All sites that are situated on the outer rim of the campground, be weary. Most have a good steep decline not to far away from the pavement. I would just be a little careful with kids or dogs. One section does not allow generators. They do have an on site dump station for rigs. No hookups though.

    What to do

At Davis Camp Park - Mohave County, visitors report: "Loved being able to set up our Napier Sportz tent with our Subaru at the river's edge on the Colorado River just outside of Bullhead City, Az. (across from Laughlin, NV). So clear! Lots of families with jet skis, which we found entertaining although noisy."

Wildlife observation: Desert species frequent the shorelines, particularly during morning and evening hours. According to a camper at Las Vegas Bay Campground: "Quail are everywhere. Close to the water and it's peacefully quiet." Coyotes, owls and various desert species are commonly spotted after dark.

Gaming access: Several campgrounds provide convenient access to Laughlin casinos. A visitor at Colorado River Oasis RV Resort notes: "It's neat if you take the water taxis across to the casinos and walk the boardwalk, there are so many bugs so be prepared."

Privacy options: While many sites offer communal camping, some locations provide more secluded options. A visitor at Arrowhead Cove mentioned: "I was looking for a remote Cove to set up for a couple nights on Lake Mead and found this little gem off the beaten path but still accessible on a rugged and steeply graded access road."

As I write this at 10:11 at night, it is 100°F. When I arrived in Needles this afternoon, it was 114°F. The water that comes out of the spigots here is like bathwater."

Fee awareness: Additional charges may apply during peak periods. A reviewer at Davis Camp Park notes: "We did read that during holidays and summer weekends there are charges for wristbands that seem pretty high; we did not see any of those charges on a late October weekend stay. Recommend checking that out before booking."

Decent size sites, clean bathroom showers."
