GuideSpent the labor day weekend camping here, anticipating that it might be hard to find a camping spot while on the road so we got reservations. Sites were pretty nice, we happened to reserve the last site available which put us close to the Showers and bathrooms. The location has some interesting sandstone spire and caves which can easily be explored and some modest trails for walking or bike riding. Also, checked out Kershaw SP which is nearby, and has an interesting lush green oasis (in the desert) with some hiking/ biking trails. The campground at Kershaw was more crowded that Cathedral and sites were closer together, so we were happy to stay at Cathedral.
ScoutCampground would have been given 5 stars but the fish cleaning station was not open. The sites were well kept , clean and quiet. Bathrooom's and HOT shower were great and super clean. They have wifi available if you need to keep in touch with the real world. The lake had plenty of trout to catch and bass as well. They have both fresh water as well as a dump station for trash and camper waters. Next trip Im going to just fill my camper at the campground with water. I will be back!

ScoutThis place is a real hidden gem. You camp inside a forest of volcanic tuff rocks, which looks unique and cool. Sites are spacious and not crowded. Saw deer and dozens of cows wandering through– harmless but lock your food. The reservoir is great for fishing, kayaking, and swimming. Best part? It's completely free. At night, stars are incredible. No trash services, so pack in pack out. Arrive early Friday for lakeside spots. Will definitely return.
