Call the park service before you go

The road into the park can get very muddy. My family and I got stuck on the road and had to camp on the side of the road. There is no cell service. It is not a well traveled road but a park ranger did come by the next day and he was extremely nice. He suggested that when the road dried to move into the park. We decided if we could get our vehicle moving we would get out. Thankfully the mud started to dry up and we were able to get turned around and made it out, obviously. The area is beautiful but I couldn't tell you about the actual park as we never made it in and my family is not interested in another attempt.

Getting away from the crowds

Slow driving 28 miles of dirt road lead you to some very nice camp sites.  All the sites looked very usable, relatively flat and clean.  Fire rings, tables and water.  Clean pit toilets.  A couple of nice hikes.  We were glad we had 4x4 to get back from the waterfall hike.  Horseshoe pit was a nice surprise.  We were literally the only people for the night.

enjoyable experience

This was a family favorite site... we were right on the water :) I think the sites are only available first come, first serve so getting there early is helpful when picking the best sites. We enjoyed the few hikes we checked out at the park as well. Very nice place!
