Ash Canyon Creek Trailhead

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Hiking the Ash Canyon Creek Trail starts right from camp, making this dispersed site a functional base for those who want to get moving early. The road in cuts through a residential neighborhood and has several speed bumps, so slow down and expect a rough final stretch past the water tanks. Cell service is available, and dogs are welcome. A fenced water collection pool runs continuously through the night, so expect that ambient sound. The site sits among firs and conifers, and the Kings Canyon Road Dispersed — Toiyabe NF area offers additional dispersed options nearby. Signage indicates winter closure, though hikers still visit during that period. One night here tends to be enough for a trailhead stay.

Overlook, just outside of the city

Found this on iOverland. The toad leading up, cuts through a nice neighborhood, has many inverse speed bumps, so take it slow. Once you get to the area you’re navigation tells you you have to walk from there, keep driving through, in between the water tanks and it’ll start to get a little rough, but manageable, even for a small fwd vehicle (saw one in the morning). The sign says closed during the winter, but there were people still coming to hike and explore. Very quiet night, just the water from for the fenced off collection pool system going all the time. Just stayed one night. Arrived at dusk and left after breakfast.
