Reno View Dispersed

Reno View dispersed camping is not suitable for trailers or RVs. The access road is unmaintained and described as "a beast" that requires high-clearance vehicles like trucks or SUVs. Attempting to bring an RV or trailer would be extremely difficult and potentially damaging to your vehicle. The terrain is best suited for car camping, campervans, or vehicles with rooftop tents. Even with appropriate vehicles, expect challenging road conditions requiring careful navigation.

Reno View Dispersed camping is located approximately 4 miles back on an unmaintained road in the mountains near Lake Tahoe. As the name suggests, it offers stunning views overlooking the city lights of Reno. The campground features a few dispersed sites, with the first turn-off providing the best panoramic views and relatively flat ground for camping. The location is somewhat remote, making it a good option for those seeking solitude while still being within reasonable distance of Lake Tahoe and Reno.

Reno View follows standard dispersed camping regulations typical of national forest land, though specific posted rules should be followed when on site. The area has very rocky ground with goatheads (puncture vine), making it unsuitable for barefoot walking or setting up ground tents. Dogs might find the terrain uncomfortable. The location can be very windy, though camping between trees provides some shelter. For safety and comfort, bring appropriate footwear, avoid ground tents if possible, and be prepared for exposed conditions. As with most dispersed camping, pack out all trash and practice Leave No Trace principles.
