Echo Summit Dispersed

Overnight camping is not permitted at Echo Summit Dispersed camping area. According to Forest Service regulations, this area in national forest land does not allow overnight stays. Visitors who attempt to camp overnight may be approached by Forest Service personnel and asked to relocate. Echo Summit Dispersed offers very few amenities, as is typical with most dispersed camping areas. There are no developed facilities such as restrooms, potable water, picnic tables, or trash services. The area has been affected by a past wildfire, resulting in many cleared trees, which makes it suitable for Starlink users needing clear sky views. Power lines are visible in some areas. Campers should prepare to be entirely self-sufficient, bringing their own water, packing out all trash, and having proper equipment for primitive camping.

Echo Summit Dispersed is located in the El Dorado National Forest in Northern California, near Echo Lake. The area is accessible via Echo Summit, which is along Highway 50. This is in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, not far from South Lake Tahoe. The specific location was affected by a wildfire several years ago, which has resulted in cleared areas throughout the site.
