Sharps Outfitters Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Sharps Outfitters Campground spreads along two miles of the Niobrara River near Valentine, offering over 100 sites across varied terrain. The private campground operates as both a lodging destination and river outfitter, with tubing and kayaking services available on-site. Sites range from open areas to wooded spots directly along the riverbank, with some positioned just 15 feet from the water's edge.

The campground divides into distinct sections catering to different camping styles. A family-friendly area provides quieter conditions, while a separate section accommodates groups preferring music and later hours. Wooded sites offer more seclusion, positioned up a 10-foot embankment from the river. Electric hookups are available at select sites for an additional $10, with 30-amp service at riverside locations.

Wildlife appears regularly throughout the property. Campers frequently spot deer, turkeys, raccoons, and river otters from their sites. The facility maintains flush toilets and shower buildings near the check-in area, with portable facilities distributed across the expansive grounds. Staff patrol the campground to verify passes and enforce rules. lee's freelance M. notes you can "pick a spot under trees, in open, and/or by river."

Late arrivals can sign waivers at the office door and select available sites, settling payment the following morning. For additional camping choices, consider campgrounds near Sparks when planning your Niobrara River adventure.

Great sites near river

Fantastic find. Probably over a 100 sites and only a few taken. Great access to Niobrara River. Folks in office are helpful and low key. Pick a spot under trees, in open, and/or by river. Sites have fire pit and table. Nice shower rooms and flush toilets. Covered table area by office. $12 per person (kids less or free, I can't remember).
A number of sites with electric for $10 more. Lots of people floating river. Turkeys, racoons, birds, and deer. Seems even if you pull in late, just sign a waiver by office door, and pick a spot and take care of details in morning. Camp sites go west of office but also meanders east for at least 1/2 mile down by river. Awesome and quiet.

Large campground with a variety of spots

This campground stretches along the Niobrara River, so the sites are also spread out.

There is a "family friendly" side, a "party" side, and a woody/secluded area. My group tent camped in the wooded area. Our sites were right along the river, but up a 10Ft embankment.

Lots of wildlife. They do patrol to check for passes and people breaking rules.

There is a concession hut. There are porta-potties dispersed throughout, but there is also a toilet/shower facility near the check-in area.

We went August 2020 and no one except my group were wearing masks. Not even the staff.

They also do tubing and kayaking.

Some sites had tables and fire pits.

Close to Heaven

One of our Favorite campsites evvvver! We visited in mid October and had the pick of any of the 140ish campsites, as we were the only ones there. With a little jockeying, we were able to get the rig out on the point. Front steps of the RV just 15’ from the bank of the Niobrara River! Watched deer, turkeys, and 3 little river Otters right from our site. 30amp service at this site. Probably 25-30 RV sites not on the river bank and the rest two miles of primitive sites along the river of which a handful big enough to park an RV. Rita & Jack were great to deal with and Jack was very helpful. Would definitely stop again if ever in the area!

Almost backwoods

Right along the Niobrara River you can truly emerge yourself in the wonders of Nebraska wildlife. Have to go through a lot of ranch land to get there, but in the end there's no service, no running water and all stars

We have tent camped at Sharps for the last 10 years. The campsite is always clean and the staff is warm and friendly. They make sure we have the best possible experience. We will only tent camp here.
