Stayed at this campground for my college visit to ISU and I nearly went to the university just because I wanted to be here at this park every weekend.
There are so many activities from your typical hiking experience to spending the day at the water park to being able to take the family mini golfing.
Own personal experience… we stayed next to the fort cemetery. Personally, I found that to be disrespectful and wished that they didn't provide camping near it.
Perfect hiking areas. Primitive camping. Wonderful and well built trail up to the tallest waterfall in Nebraska
What a wonderful place with so many trees. If you get the chance to up the fire tower and talk to the park ranger.
Laka Powell is a gorgeous place. Only spent a day in the campground the rest was out on the lake. Wonderful views and an open sky.
Unfortunately there's no lake view, but there's full hookups and a good mix of tent and RV sites. Be careful of low lying trees for taller campers.
I have been going here since I was a kid and the only thing that has disappointed me is when it closes down when the lake floods. Other than that it has great amenities with a great central location on the lake.
Right along the Niobrara River you can truly emerge yourself in the wonders of Nebraska wildlife. Have to go through a lot of ranch land to get there, but in the end there's no service, no running water and all stars
