Ekstrom's Stage Station is a collection of historic log buildings reassembled along Montana’s famous Rock Creek, functioning today as a full-service campground. The campground is situated in a large grassy meadow surrounded by tall pine trees. The campground offers water & electric sites, full hookups, as well as tent sites for campers who prefer “roughing it.” For those who forgot their tents, we also have an historic school house and rustic log cabins for rent. For registered campers, there is a bath house with hot showers and we have a laundromat. Unfortunately, the restaurant is closed pending renovations required by the county.

Philipsburg Bay Campground is adjacent to Georgetown Lake and provides ideal access to fishing, boating and water skiing. It is located in the Pintler Ranger District of the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, the largest national forest in Montana. Surrounded by mountains of outstanding beauty, the location is perfect for visitors who enjoy mountain and water sports or those who prefer relaxing and taking in the spectacular view. Once on-site, you may be able to pay for your campsite(s) by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app, and the Scan and Pay feature. If this option is available, you will need to first download the free Recreation.gov mobile app https://www.recreation.gov/mobile-app prior to your arrival as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service.

    Recreation

Canoeing and boating are popular activities at the lake. Hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers will find no shortage of trails within a few miles of the campground. Georgetown Lake is a prime destination for fishing and fly fishing with kokanee salmon, rainbow and brook trout being the most sought-after species. It is illegal to target Bull Trout, if caught they must be released immediately with minimal handling. Participants must have Montana licenses to hunt or fish.

    Natural Features

The campground overlooks the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness. Georgetown Lake is a large mountain lake spanning close to 3,000 acres at an elevation of over 6,000 ft. Lodgepole pines enclose the lake and surrounding mountains, providing a home to abundant wildlife including moose, elk, white-tailed deer and even bighorn sheep. Water birds such as the graceful blue heron as well as hawks and other birds of prey also inhabit the lake area.

Get Your Kids Addicted to Camping

This is a really fun spot a little ways off busy Hwy. 93. You got your mini golf, outdoor go carts, paddle boats, arcade, donkey petting, pizza and all level of camp sites - ‘dry’ non-water sites around $50-60/night, glamping yurt-like structures (more expensive) and cabins (higher wallet sucking). The dry sites are in a pretty forest area a bit off from all the shiny, gigantic RVs (this is Whitefish after all), so that’s a nice touch. This is a light-hearted, full service and colorful spot, though scenically not an ‘A’ in this gorgeous of a state and not all that budget friendly if your idea of a good time doesn’t involve pinball or Skittles.

    Piney Campground And Boat Launch

    Nice sites overlooking the Lake

Snagged a FCFS site at this wonderful Montana state park after reading reviews. So glad I did. Such a nice campground, nice neighbors. Lots of people out on the lake boating. There is a boat launch in the campground. Snow covered peaks still visible in late June.

Not a lot of shade due to beetle infestation. But wasn't an issue in June. All boats, including inflatable kayaks need to be inspected at a Montana inspection station before launching in the water

I loved it here. Wish I'd stayed longer than one night.

    Conveniently located in Whitefish MT.

Wonderful little campground located just south of Whitefish Montana on highway 93. This KOA has a lot to offer from cabins to RV parking and several tent camping locations. Just a few minutes drive north and you will enter the small ski town of Whitefish Montana. Plenty of places to eat, shop or buy your groceries. During the summer months be sure to visit Whitefish Lake. 20 minute drive east and you will arrive in West Glacier Park. This RV park is located in a wooded area and is very family friendly with a local pizzeria on site.

    Convenient, gorgeous, snug and delicious!

Easy access from I-90. Beautiful location, classic Montana with trees mountains and rivers! Great restaurant on site. Campsites are the reason for not giving 5 stars. Very tight and not great space for maneuverability. Was not full so we were fine with a big rig. Had it been full would be a little uncomfortable.

    Great Time at Georgetown Lake

We had a great vacation in Montana. Campground was $15 per night, better than spending $40 in WA. First long trip with the new 3 Feathers MFG Pinecone teardrop trailer. We love Georgetown & Anaconda!

    Thanks for the Great Stay

A quick shout out to Jo, the campground hostess, for treating us so well! It was a great place to stay and she made us feel right at home.  We had been staying at different sites as we traveled to Montana from Iowa and this one was a favorite!. We will make it a point to stay there again when coming  out west.

    Cheap. Smaller, always has availability

Best $10 campsites imaginable. I have always enjoyed able to roll up and there was an available site. Good for traders up to 23ft and even has water and power sites. Sweet little secret gem of a campground and centrally located close enough range of possibilities to go see around Central Montana. Bring bug spray.

    Nice hosts, but expensive

I came here in a Friday evening hoping to snag a campground, but it was full. The hosts approached me and were very kind and understanding and let me stay in the overflow - however, one night of camping for a non-Montana resident is $34!! The hosts again lowered it to $24 since I didn’t need any electric hookup. Normally I wouldn’t pay that much, but it was getting late and there weren’t many other options.

    Convenient Stop in Missoula

This KOA is conveniently located for a quick overnight stop. We were passing through Montana and needed a full hookup site to rest and recharge before another long day of driving. The camp staff was very friendly and accommodating, even with our late arrival. It’s located a couple blocks off a busy road packed with shopping options which was a plus for someone passing through, but it might not be the best place for someone looking for an extended stay with scenery.

    Kreis Pond Campground

Good for the Ease of Drive, but not the Best

The pond is small and prone to very dense algae blooms. Campsites are very close in and very busy by Montana standards. Good for a quick jaunt out for one night if you don't mind making new friends but it isn't a good place for an extended stay. Speaking as a former member of these hooligans, it's a common spot for high school students to be hooligans.

    Beavertail Hill - Missoula, Montana

We stayed at Beavertail Hill Campground about 30 minutes East of Missoula, Montana. It is a very pretty. The mountains surround the campground with a small river that runs next to the campground. I'm not much of a fisherman but it is very pretty. There are some short hiking trails around the campground. The campground was not full and was very quiet.

The campground is clean and the campsites have plenty of room. There are flush toilets and they are clean. I did not give this campground five stars because it lacks a shower house and feels more like a place to stay the night, it doesn't seem to have much to offer for longer stays.

    Anglers Roost Campground

    the name says it all

this is definitely the place to roost for anyone who enjoys fishing. all fifty spots are either on the bitterroot river or a short walk away. A pleasant walk along the water provides ample bank fishing for the plentiful trout. other fishing spots including lake como are just a short drive away.

staff are friendly and the small store sells fishing licenses as well as a few groceries and fishing supplies. the bathrooms, showers and laundry are clean and centrally located. very slow wifi.

the site itself covers 15 acres with 1/4 mile of riverfront. this includes 70 rv and tent spots. the sites themselves offer a variety of camping experiences from side by side coziness to more isolated spots. there is also a group site.

we would happily return for any future fishing trips to montana.

    Pretty and quiet

$42 for fire pit and picnic table! No privacy between the spots. That said, it’s a very beautiful setting with big trees, and very quiet. Nice playground for the kids . Showers and bathrooms looked like they had been clean to, but overall were in need of a deep cleaning. The shower curtains were on the toilet stalls… Not sure how you keep those clean thoroughly.

Restaurant was really nice and tasty. Nice people. But they are only open till 230 even though their website says they are open for dinner. I was hoping to stay one more day because it was so peaceful but we needed to get going on our trip.

    Great Stay

We stayed here for a night as we headed west. It offered everything we needed with a beautiful campground to boot. The laundry facilities were great. The showers were clean and hot. There was an adorable restaurant in the campground. Every single staff member we came across was so friendly. There is a basketball court, sand volleyball court, horse shoes and a playground. There’s also a beautiful creek running along the campground with beautiful Mountain views. WiFi sand cell service worked great. I would absolutely stay again!

    I’d take a pass...

    …unless it's late & you’re desperate for a camp site.

Plenty of available sites in October— other campers were mainly hunters (or fishers).  No camp host; ADA pit toilet only one open (comfort station closed); all water was winterized & no elec hook-up available.  (Fees sign— see photo-- left no indication that fees were seasonal; we were ready with our contribution but since nobody to collect, we didn’t leave it.)   24 sites (1 ADA) + 2 tipi sites, all nicely spaced & shrubbery for privacy; #1-12 by the river.

The biggest deterrent to this CG is the many trains that came through during the night— 3-4/hr, all night— and they all blasted their whistles 3-4 times each!  I guess if you are immuned to that, this would be a great campsite.

    A Gem

We were a little nervous after reading the other reviews, but very pleasantly surprised. The sites are pretty spacious for the most part; some on the banks of the Clark Fork River. Very clean area and bathrooms. The park manager is super friendly and nice. The 1 mile Nature Trail around the area is really well maintained and beautiful. There are 2 Tipi sites you can rent as well. Yes, it's about a quarter mile from I 90, the highway noise is minimal in my opinion. $30 per night with electric only for out of state, $20 for Montanans or those with a non- resident pass. Looks like most sites have plenty of shade for the summer days. The Ghost Town of Garnet is close by, an excellent day trip. Be sure to stop in at Parkers in Drummond for an amazing real milkshake!!

    Chill spot

Right off the I-90, this was a lovely camping ground with clean bathrooms and quiet campsites. Note that not all campsites allow for cars to pull in too close, some have logs on the border. We usually have a tent attached to our car but it was fine. Mosquitos came out at dusk but we’re gone by sundown. Really pretty stargazing on a clear night!

    Simple camping

This was a quick spot when traveling to Yellowstone. Easy to access from I-90. Not a huge place and no showers. But the bathrooms are clean, the campgrounds have space and you get to listen to the river. Unfortunately the fishing wasn’t superb based on the river run off for the season. But it wasn’t a bad spot when we were tired and ready to make dinner.

Enjoyed our stay over a weekend! Nice 1 mile hiking trail through the state park. Was able to watch a group of cow/calf elk on Beavertail Hill from our camping spot. A few miles up Rock Creek Rd is a Big Horn Sheep viewing area. Water available at the campground but no dump station, however just to the east is Bearmouth RV Park where you can dump for $15.
