Pretty reservoir

Tried to camp here in summer but it was full, but we got a good look at the place. Wooded and near a picturesque reservoir. Basic sites but they had water and toilets. Lots of people had boats.

Georgetown Lake is Rotting

Georgetown lake is a beautiful reservoir in the mountains. In my opinion, Georgetown lake smells like it is rotting and I saw a bunch of dead and dying fish. It's very crowded and popular in the summer, but it's not worth the trip... Could be cool, but I had a bad experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

What amenities are available at Cable Mountain Campground?

Cable Mountain Campground offers basic but functional amenities for campers. The campground provides drinking water via a spigot and has outhouse toilet facilities. The campsites are nestled in a wooded area, providing natural shade and privacy. Some sites are located close to a creek where you can hear the water running, creating a peaceful camping atmosphere. While the amenities are minimal, they provide the essentials needed for a comfortable camping experience in this forest setting.

How do I make reservations at Cable Mountain Campground?

Cable Mountain Campground tends to fill up quickly, especially during summer months. The campground appears to operate on a first-come, first-served basis, as there's no formal reservation system mentioned. For the best chance at securing a spot, arrive early in the day, particularly on weekdays when there's less competition. Contact the managing agency (likely the Forest Service) before your trip to verify the current reservation policy and availability. Having a backup camping plan is recommended during peak seasons.

What is the best time of year to visit Cable Mountain Campground?

Summer is the most popular time to visit Cable Mountain Campground, though this means higher occupancy and potentially crowded conditions, particularly at the nearby reservoir. Early fall offers a good alternative with fewer visitors while still providing pleasant camping weather. The forest setting likely provides beautiful foliage during autumn months. Spring might offer wildflowers and flowing creeks, but check on opening dates as mountain campgrounds can have seasonal closures due to weather conditions. Verify the campground's operating season with the managing agency before planning your trip.

What activities can I do near Cable Mountain Campground?

The area around Cable Mountain Campground offers several recreational opportunities. The nearby reservoir provides options for boating, fishing, and water activities, though water conditions can vary seasonally. Hiking is available in the surrounding forest area, with beautiful woodland scenery to explore. You'll also find creekside spots perfect for relaxation or wildlife observation. The picturesque mountain setting creates opportunities for photography and nature appreciation. For those seeking more structured activities, check with local ranger stations about designated trails or guided experiences in the vicinity.
