Ekstrom's Stage Station Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Reservations are available at this private RV-oriented campground in Clinton, Montana, with nightly rates running $40 to $100 and full hookups including electric, water, and sewer for rigs up to 60 feet. The access road gives some visitors pause. Several reviewers flag rough conditions on the approach, so drivers with longer setups should take it slow.

Sites sit on grassy, level ground in a mix of forested and open terrain alongside Rock Creek, and the layout is compact. Sites are close together with little buffer between them, which means campers expecting separation between neighbors will want to manage expectations. That said, reviews consistently note the absence of highway noise despite proximity to I-90, and the creek provides a natural backdrop. "Gorgeous surroundings and generally quiet," notes Greg B.. Cell service and WiFi both get positive marks from multiple visitors.

Fly fishing draws a dedicated crowd here. As Kirk J. puts it, "apparently fly fishing is the thing here," with a fly fishing supply store roughly 100 yards from the campground. Rock Creek runs along the property and gives anglers direct water access. Onsite amenities include showers, laundry, a playground, basketball and volleyball courts, and horseshoes. A restaurant has operated on the grounds, though at least one recent reviewer found it closed during their stay, so confirming hours before arrival is worth the effort.

Campers who want dispersed alternatives in the area can find free sites at Rock Creek Dispersed Spot - Lolo to the south, or explore Lolo NF Dispersed near Clinton -- Moccasin Ridge Road for national forest options. The campground runs April 1 through November 1. Booking ahead makes sense during summer, when the campgrounds near Clinton corridor sees steady through-traffic from I-90 travelers heading west.

Gorgeous, quiet dark. Recommend.

This is a lovely campground with clean bathrooms. There are multiple people around taking care that the grounds are clean. Grassy but level campsites.

I had only one issue. It was a bit of a rookie mistake not paying close attention to sewer hookups. I had a full hookup site & didn't notice when the spot next to me was empty, how close their sewer hookup would be right next to my door & my sitting area.

Since I have a small setup, I could have pulled 5+ feet farther and avoided the smell.

Great place 20 minutes from Missoula

Cute little RV Park. Sites are very close to each other, so don't expect solitude, but they have free wifi, bathrooms, showers, and laundry on site. Gorgeous surroundings and generally quiet. No highway noise despite being close to the interstate.

Great park

We’re in a valley surrounded by beautiful green mountains. The park is very nice. Apparently fly fishing is the thing here. There is a fly fishing supply store about 100 yards away.

Very cool campground, lots of activities

Great river access and shady spots with some full hookups available. Dump station is nice too! There was a water advisory during our visit so drinking water was provided. Would stay again!

Great staff, water boil notice, scenic

Absolutely beautiful. Staff provided jugs of water due to the water boil notice, but we would have preferred a discount from the $53 charge for our no water / no electric site (Class B). On the upside there is a sweet playground, really cute buildings, and a little walk down to Rock Creek. Restaurant is closed.

Pretty and quiet

$42 for fire pit and picnic table! No privacy between the spots. That said, it’s a very beautiful setting with big trees, and very quiet. Nice playground for the kids . Showers and bathrooms looked like they had been clean to, but overall were in need of a deep cleaning. The shower curtains were on the toilet stalls… Not sure how you keep those clean thoroughly.

Restaurant was really nice and tasty. Nice people. But they are only open till 230 even though their website says they are open for dinner. I was hoping to stay one more day because it was so peaceful but we needed to get going on our trip.

Closed for Season BUT we stayed anyway

We called the number on their sign when we arrived. It’s pretty shut down with no services but we dry camped. Owner was super nice and we were greeted warmly by her grandkids. They ran our dogs around and tired them out.

Great Stay

We stayed here for a night as we headed west. It offered everything we needed with a beautiful campground to boot. The laundry facilities were great. The showers were clean and hot. There was an adorable restaurant in the campground. Every single staff member we came across was so friendly. There is a basketball court, sand volleyball court, horse shoes and a playground. There’s also a beautiful creek running along the campground with beautiful Mountain views. WiFi sand cell service worked great. I would absolutely stay again!

Convenient, gorgeous, snug and delicious!

Easy access from I-90. Beautiful location, classic Montana with trees mountains and rivers! Great restaurant on site. Campsites are the reason for not giving 5 stars. Very tight and not great space for maneuverability. Was not full so we were fine with a big rig. Had it been full would be a little uncomfortable.
