Lots of open space and locations to pull out--beautiful views as well! To access this place we went towards Copper City Trail Head, and drove by the entrance onto BLM lands. Also, note that this place seems common for mountain bikers and trail bikers, so you'll likely run into a few of those. Also also, this place is DRY--so be sure to bring your own water (but on the plus side, no bugs!!)
Great easy access spot! This area is free to use and is well maintained. Each site has a fire pit and a picnic bench. Also, each site has lots of space and decent privacy. Toilet, water, and food storage is provided. Lots of spots have creek access which is nice.
Solid place for camping. They have a few spots at the end of the road, and few places to pull off on the road. There's also a bear box at the end of the road.
Checked it out and quickly realized that it is likely private property. On maps, it looks like a bunch of dirt roads with pull offs, but the entrances to them where all gated off
Don't follow the direction from the given long/lat. They will take you to someone's private property.
After discovering that the given coordinates were incorrect we drove up the road a while more. We reached a fork and veered right. Shortly after we saw a campsite to the left (about 9 miles off the highway). This particular spot wasn't very private as it was immediately off the road, but there were bear boxes, restrooms, and a creek nearby.
Also at this site was an informational sign that showed where all the campsites were off this road (photo included).
Awesome spot! Felt quite private despite being right off the forest service road. Each of the 3 spots had easy access to the river. It's only 2 miles away from the Stuart and Colchuck Lake TH too!
I loved this primitive camp site!! No internet, beautiful landscape, some trails to explore, fire rings, and plenty of space!! This place is definitely popular for OHVs and ATVs during the day, so be sure to avoid OHV and ATV trails. Definitely need 4WD to get through sand. We have a 4WD, but we were still worried about getting through much of the sandy trails that led to our campsite.
We wanted to explore Goblin Valley, the next day so we camped here. It was a great spot! Beautiful views! Definitely windy though.
Definitely a popular site, but it's easy to find your own space between natural rock walls.
4WD is a must.
Exactly what we wanted in a campsite! No internet, off the grid, fire ring, beautiful views and secluded! Definitely need 4WD to get here. The side roads that you need to take to reach the camp sites are not maintained.
Drove to this site late at night needing a place to sleep in our car, and it was ~almost~ perfect. As we were driving up the mountain, the conditions changed rapidly and we were hit with a snow storm. If camping here, be sure to check the conditions in the mountains. Beautiful spot though! Very private.
