Rudolf Bennitt Conservation Area sits in the heavily forested terrain outside Higbee, Missouri, where a fishing lake anchors the main camping area. Lakeside sites are open gravel or grass, with a vault toilet, boat ramp, and fishing docks nearby. Campers who want more tree cover can move uphill to equestrian sites, of which there are more than 20 across the property. A shooting range sits centrally within the park. Picking up a brochure at the entrance is worth doing, since roads pass through both park land and private property. Camping is free. Thompson Campground at Rothwell Park is an option for those wanting a more developed setup, and camping spots near Higbee include a handful of other alternatives in the area.
