Mark Twain National Forest's Big Bay Recreation Area sits on Table Rock Lake near Shell Knob, operating seasonally from mid-May through late September under US Forest Service management. Wooded sites back directly up to the lake, and electric hookups plus a dump station make it workable for RVs. Road access to individual sites can be unreliable, so arriving by boat is sometimes the more practical option. No showers, rangers, or attendants are on site, and restroom facilities are basic vault-style. Campers who are self-sufficient and comfortable without staffed support will find this a functional base for water access on Table Rock Lake.
