These rustic cabin rentals provide full electric hookups, heating and air conditioning systems, and basic furnishings including beds, tables, and seating areas. Most cabins include private bathrooms with showers and small kitchenettes with refrigerators and microwaves. "The cabins were recently added and is a nice feature. Always quiet and owners are very accommodating," noted one visitor about The Oaks RV Park's cabin options. Larger cabins at Trace State Park include separate bedrooms while smaller units feature open floor plans with bunk or sofa bed arrangements.

Starkville KOA features cabins with more extensive amenities including on-site laundry facilities. Visitors staying at Trace State Park should note the park roads need maintenance, as one review pointed out: "The road in is in terrible shape, the lake is missing, the levy being worked on."

      Tombigbee State Park Campground

      FHU- Not big rig friendly

Small park, 20 sites of various sizes, 18 full hook ups(even sewer). Tent& group camping available. Cabins also available. A/C Bathhouse centralized with a vending machine for canned soda, men's side, women's side, and coin laundry(2 washer/2 dryer)$2.50 per use for light wash load- price increases with load size and function.$2.50 per dryer in commercial dryer. Sides each consisted of 3 flush toilets and 2 shower stalls. Lots of playground equipment for kids, along with a small baseball diamond, volleyball nets, BBQ grills, picnic tables and pavilions. Lots of trails around, but seems that they link to the disc golf course. Trolling motor or kayak lake only, NO SWIMMING. You can rent kayaks from the office. Fishing available with permit available at office& limits. Not far from Tupelo, MS, 15 minute drive to explore and shop. Our site#6 was just big enough for our camper(35 ft). We parked our truck(25ft) sideways-ish in front of the camper. We tried to stay out of the road for passing vehicles. There were parking spaces just up from our site, but our truck would have stuck out into traffic. Glad that we didn't because a storm came through and the wind caused a tree to come down over the road in front of our camper where those parking spots were. When I made the reservation via the phone number, I spoke with a representative who was in Maryland, so she had no idea, but said that on her screen the pad size should be long enough and it was not. There is no one at the gatehouse, you have to check in at the office across from the campground or envelopes are provided with a fee list for the honor system. It was quiet at night. There was only 1 other RV hooked up there the whole 7 days that we were. There were people that came through the week for 1 night only, but most people coming into the campground loop were stopping to use the shower facilities, the laundry facilities, or just driving through. We camped at Tombigbee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

      Starkville KOA

      Friendly Staff

I really don't have much to say because I am a newbie. This was our first KOA site. I will say it suited us very well. It was shaded, our site was level, pet friendly, they were expecting us, and free firewood was provided. Also, we got in a little chat with some interesting local info built in.

      Eagle Point Primitive Campground

Great place to go and cheap!!

Beautiful spots, gravel pads, picnic tables, park at spot, great for ada access, lake breeze throughout, bear encounters highly unlikely but still proceed with caution and stow trash and food properly. Some locals i talked to said it gets busy here in the summer, but when i webt in early april it was just me and a few occasional daytrippers.

      Tombigbee State Park Campground

      Relaxing and perfect for littles

This has always been our go too campgrounds when in Tupelo for baseball tournaments. The littles immediately go to the baseball field and play. Lots of open grass space for them to play football too! Always clean. Very safe. And very relaxing.

      Trace State Park Campground

Nice park but the roads need some help!

Trace state park is very nice and relaxing. From fishing, kayaking to camping.

The roads in the park are terrible! That’s the one downside to the park.

    Guide to Houston

Cabins near Houston, Mississippi provide camping options within a 30-40 mile radius of town. The area features rolling hills with elevations between 300-500 feet and experiences humid subtropical climate with mild winters and hot summers. Water recreation opportunities are abundant with multiple lakes and reservoirs offering fishing and boating access throughout the camping season.

    What to do

Hiking trails: Tombigbee State Park Campground offers multiple maintained paths through wooded areas. "We hiked all the trails and they were well manicured and followed a frisbee golf course," notes one visitor who appreciated the park's layout. The trails are family-friendly and suitable for various skill levels.

Fishing opportunities: Howard Stafford Park Campground features fishing docks along the lake's edge. A camper described the experience: "Nice walking paths along the lakes edge provides a great place for a view of the sunset." The park includes boat ramps for those who prefer fishing from watercraft.

Disc golf course: Tombigbee State Park maintains an 18-hole disc golf course winding through the forest. "The disc golf course is very fun. It has an interesting layout in the woods so it is much like a hike," reports a visitor who enjoyed this unique recreational option. Equipment rentals are available at the park office.

    What campers like

Clean facilities: Campground bathrooms and shower facilities receive consistently positive reviews. One visitor to Starkville KOA stated, "Bathrooms and showers were exceptionally clean. Grounds were clean. Very quiet place." Well-maintained facilities enhance the experience for those staying in cabins or tent camping.

Lake views: Eagle Point Primitive Campground offers stunning water vistas from many sites. "The campground is located in a beautiful spot on a peninsula with great views of Grenada lake at both sunrise and sunset," mentions a camper who appreciated the natural setting. Morning coffee on the lakeshore is a common highlight.

Peaceful environment: The cabin camping areas tend to be quieter than main campgrounds. A visitor to Trace State Park Campground noted, "Clean, relatively quiet even when full, lots of sites with direct, clean access to lakefront." This makes the area ideal for those seeking relaxation.

    What you should know

Road conditions: Some access roads need maintenance and can be challenging for larger vehicles. A Trace State Park visitor mentioned, "Good campground, great lake access... access roads need replacing, sketchy cell service." Plan extra travel time when navigating to more remote cabin locations.

Cell service: Connectivity varies significantly between parks. A camper at Tombigbee State Park observed, "Poor cell service with AT&T and if you have starlink it won't work due to all the trees." Download maps and information before arrival.

Reservation recommendations: Serenity RV Park requires advance booking for cabin stays. A visitor explained the process: "We had prepaid for our reservation... we received a call back with our site number and were informed that we could proceed to site 26 and check in once the staff member returned from lunch." Kid-friendly biking: Tombigbee State Park offers safe cycling areas for young riders. A camper observed, "Great for young kids because the campground is small with a flat loop that is easy for bike riding, skating, or scooters. It is easy to see the kids from your campsite and not worry about them getting lost."

Entertainment options: Town Creek Campground provides diverse activities for different age groups. A camper mentioned, "I enjoyed the scenery and walkability!" Pack games and outdoor equipment as evening entertainment options may be limited.

    Tips from RVers

Site selection: Choosing the right cabin location affects your experience. At Trace State Park, a visitor advised, "We were in site 4 on the lake. Beautiful view! Grounds could use some updating but we really enjoyed our stay here." Corner or lakefront cabins typically offer better views and more privacy.

Utility connections: RV sites with cabins nearby share similar hookup quality. A camper at Howard Stafford Park noted, "The site is a level concrete pad with 50/30 amp, water and sewer. The campground is next to a big county park with a playground, boat ramp and fishing docks." Check specific cabin amenities when booking as features vary.

Gate access: Some parks restrict after-hours entry. A Howard Stafford Park visitor explained, "Non campers kicked out at 8pm and gates are locked. All campers get a key for after hours entry/exit." Confirm access procedures when checking in, especially if planning late arrivals or early departures.
