      Great Location

This was our first RV trip and it was everything we hoped for.  The site was spacious and mostly level.  Met a great guy who helped me level our trailer and gave me a few pointers too!  Thank you Jason!😀. The deer we saw across the street were icing on the cake!

John W. Kyle State Park Campground

      Quite Scenery beside the lake

We stayed at camp spot 216 with our 36 ft class A RV. It had full hook up and our stay for 1 night was scenic and quiet. There is only ONE functioning bathroom in this lowered end camp ground at the time of our stay and is only has cold water showers. The facility was clean though. The camp hosts at the gate house were, helpful, polite and friendly. We paid $38 for the night at this Premium location with waterfront. No swimming allowed in the lake, but you can fish. Would stay here again for a pit stop, but since we cant bathe in the bathhouse I wouldn't recommend a long stay unless you had your own camper with shower ans toilet facility to use.

      Graceland RV Park & Campground

A Great Place to Stay for the Full Memphis Experience

We really enjoyed our stay at Graceland RV Park and Campground. If you’re coming to Memphis to visit Graceland, it’s hard to beat the location. Being so close made everything easy and gave us plenty of time to enjoy the whole experience without rushing.

The Graceland Mansion tour was fantastic. Even if you’ve seen it countless times on TV, actually walking through Elvis’s home and seeing the rooms for yourself is something completely different. There’s so much history there, and it really gives you a sense of the man behind the legend.

We were equally impressed with the museums and exhibits. There is far more to see than we expected, from Elvis’s cars and stage outfits to memorabilia and displays covering his incredible career. Give yourself a good 3–4 hours at a minimum to see everything properly. You could easily spend longer if you’re a big Elvis fan.

While we were in Memphis, we also made the trip downtown to Beale Street, and we’re glad we did. It’s exactly the kind of place you picture when you think of Memphis — live music coming from the bars, plenty of restaurants, lots of places to grab a drink and a great atmosphere as you walk along the street. It made for a brilliant evening after spending the day at Graceland.

For us, staying at Graceland RV Park, touring the mansion and museums, and then experiencing the music, bars and restaurants of Beale Street made for a memorable Memphis visit.

We’d happily stay here again. If you’re traveling by RV and Graceland is on your bucket list, this is a great place to make your base.

      Tombigbee State Park Campground

      FHU- Not big rig friendly

Small park, 20 sites of various sizes, 18 full hook ups(even sewer). Tent& group camping available. Cabins also available. A/C Bathhouse centralized with a vending machine for canned soda, men's side, women's side, and coin laundry(2 washer/2 dryer)$2.50 per use for light wash load- price increases with load size and function.$2.50 per dryer in commercial dryer. Sides each consisted of 3 flush toilets and 2 shower stalls. Lots of playground equipment for kids, along with a small baseball diamond, volleyball nets, BBQ grills, picnic tables and pavilions. Lots of trails around, but seems that they link to the disc golf course. Trolling motor or kayak lake only, NO SWIMMING. You can rent kayaks from the office. Fishing available with permit available at office& limits. Not far from Tupelo, MS, 15 minute drive to explore and shop. Our site#6 was just big enough for our camper(35 ft). We parked our truck(25ft) sideways-ish in front of the camper. We tried to stay out of the road for passing vehicles. There were parking spaces just up from our site, but our truck would have stuck out into traffic. Glad that we didn't because a storm came through and the wind caused a tree to come down over the road in front of our camper where those parking spots were. When I made the reservation via the phone number, I spoke with a representative who was in Maryland, so she had no idea, but said that on her screen the pad size should be long enough and it was not. There is no one at the gatehouse, you have to check in at the office across from the campground or envelopes are provided with a fee list for the honor system. It was quiet at night. There was only 1 other RV hooked up there the whole 7 days that we were. There were people that came through the week for 1 night only, but most people coming into the campground loop were stopping to use the shower facilities, the laundry facilities, or just driving through. We camped at Tombigbee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

      Wallace Creek

      Awesome CG, spacious sites

This CG will be on our list of future places to stay when traveling through MS. As a matter of fact, I’ll plan to deviate north to camp here again- it is that good! Sites are very spacious, park is very well maintained, and we had a peaceful stay. We pulled in around 7 pm on a Sunday and had many sites to choose from. We looked at sites and chose one, then booked it online when we set up. Cell signal was fine, and our Starlink made an easy connection at site 19- plenty of open skies. The sites are paved and very long- and the picnic table, fire pit, grill, and table were in excellent condition.

      Closed

This area is closed. I spoke to a ranger this morning who said the road is full of widow makers. People are moving his barricades and going in anyway.

    Guide to Potts Camp

Wall Doxey State Park Campground sits within Holly Springs National Forest, covering 8 acres of wooded terrain at an elevation of 400 feet. The forest encompasses 155,000 acres of pine and hardwood ecosystems across north-central Mississippi. Tent and RV camping near Potts Camp offers access to multiple fishing lakes, with water temperatures reaching 85°F in summer months and dropping to the 50s in winter.

    What to do

Fishing opportunities: Davis Lake Campground provides lakeside access with sites just 20-50 feet from the water. "The campground is adjacent to the Eastern shore of the 200 acre Davis Lake. 14 sites are right on the lake front offering spectacular sun rises and evening sun sets. The lake is known to anglers, and wildlife and birds are a given," notes a camper at Davis Lake Campground.

Disc golf: Wall Doxey State Park offers a course through pine forests. "The highlight for us is the disc golf course the winds through the pine forest," reports a visitor, though they warn: "If you are camping here anytime during the warmer months, be ready to pick ticks off of everyone!"

Hiking trails: Puskus Lake features modest hiking options. "There are 2 trails you can walk on around the campsite but they only equal about 5 miles and are not maintained very well in some areas although they are flat and easy to explore," explains a reviewer at Puskus Lake.

    What campers like

Affordable pricing: Wallace Creek offers full hookups at budget-friendly rates. "They just added sewer with makes a full hookup at $20/night a total bargain. Each site has a fire pit, picnic table, bbq grill, small concrete stand next to bbq, and lantern crook," mentions a visitor at Wallace Creek.

Quiet atmosphere: Chewalla Lake Recreation Area provides peaceful settings for unplugging. A camper notes, "We didn't try, but I bet fishing would be great here. The only problem we had was the trash leftover by the previous campers. The fire pit was full of half-burnt garbage. Overall very quiet, peaceful Thursday night."

Wildlife viewing: Davis Lake offers excellent bird watching opportunities. "We had a Great Blue Heron 'friend' during our entire stay," shares a camper. "Being located in the Tombigbee National Forest there was no light pollution making the night sky a spectacular sight to see."

    What you should know

Limited shower facilities: Not all campgrounds maintain full bathroom amenities year-round. At Chewalla Lake Recreation Area, a camper reports: "Bathrooms are not kept up, dirty and no lights in the showers. Pretty isolated, very few campers here. This could be a wonderful camping area, bathrooms need improvement!!"

Seasonal maintenance: State parks in the region often have varying maintenance levels. One camper at John W Kyle State Park noted: "It's really hard for me to give 1 star for anything, but this place is a dump. This is the 3rd MS State Park (North MS) we have been to and it is clear that MS does not take care of its state parks."

Reservation importance: Popular campgrounds fill quickly during peak seasons. A Puskus Lake visitor shared: "We spotted this place on our Natchez Trace Parkway map and decided we had enough driving for the day. Beautiful setting among the trees and right next to the lake."

    Tips for camping with families

Halloween events: Wall Doxey hosts special seasonal activities. A camper mentions: "My wife and I have only camped here once. It won't be the last time, but we were invited to the halloween get to gether at the park. And we had no idea it was such a big deal. Every camp site had wonderful decorations and the kids had such a blast."

Playground options: Trace State Park Campground has recreational areas for children. "From fishing, kayaking to camping. The roads in the park are terrible! That's the one downside to the park," notes a visitor who still gave the park a 5-star rating despite the road conditions.

Swimming areas: Some lakes permit swimming while others don't. A Davis Lake camper advises: "The swimming area steps are quite slippery as well and muscle shells are ever present so i would recommend aquatic footwear if you plan on using this area."

    Tips from RVers

Site selection cautions: At EZ Daze RV Park, locations vary in quality and accessibility. "Wanted a pull thru and found only one. But it was reserved. Drove whole park and found 1 back in. Called the after hours numbers to confirm we didn't miss something but both went straight to voicemail," shares one RVer about their arrival experience.

Leveling considerations: Many sites require preparation for larger rigs. A Wallace Creek camper advises: "Not all sites are level in fact we had to pass up a couple because of that reason. If you come in the off-season, there are plenty of sites not reserved so you can drive around and pick on using the self-pay system."

Yurt camping options: For those seeking yurt camping near Potts Camp, Mississippi, Chewalla Lake Recreation Area provides yurt accommodations as an alternative to traditional tent or RV setups. Campers planning Mississippi yurt camping experiences should book well in advance, especially during peak seasons from May through September.
