Natchez State Park - Nice, Quiet, Tucked Away

Enjoyed my stay for 3 nights. the campgrounds are tucked back in the wooded areas. You drive in from main highway and feel like you’re in a tunnel of trees; temperature drops 5-10 degrees. I was in Campground “B”; nice area with some sites on the lake. Be careful selecting your site, some are uneven and the pad sets above ground level. Sites all have a grill and fire pit. Bathhouse was clean with a washer/dryer for $1.75. Men’s had 2 showers booths. Water pressure at my site was 40 psi no issues. Park is easy access to Natchez and surrounding historical sites.

      Campground was great!

Ms. Brenda is the best! This campground has all the amenities! Hot water is tricky but the coffee pot makes up for it. There’s a microwave as well. Most of all the sites are separated by the ravines. We hiked down to the creek from the site and also went on trail C at tunica. I wouldn’t recommend trail c if you have small kids unless you wear them in a pack. Brenda has wood you can purchase if you forgot or run out. We were right next to the bathroom, sink, and shower.

      Not a bad stay.

Overall the stay wasn’t bad. The staff was pleasant and the area and lake is very nice. The restrooms were awful and it looks like the maintenance crew don’t check them regularly. The campsite is getting a make over in September so this may account for the apathy towards these facilities. No camp store but I was told this is coming next year.

      Great weekend getaway

Clean and quiet. Trails are well maintained. Our spot was a perfect ledge overlooking the lake . Can’t beat $20 a night which includes electric and water.

      Lots of trees

We love a campground with lots of trees! The water view of the lake is hide as well. This state park offers several options: Cabins, Campsites and the Tentr canvas tent campsites. Location is very convenient off of I55.

      BEAUTIFUL, BUT CROWDED

We stayed here knowing that it would be full. Well, it was crowded and loud! Kids riding golf carts everywhere. Still we had a nice stay at 30 dollars a night! Ice machine, picnic table, playground, hiking trails, kayaking and fire pits. Our site # 57 needed 2 blocks to level.

      Beautiful, Rustic, Snakes!

If you are afraid of snakes, please keep your eyes open! But don't let that stop you, this is a beautiful quiet campground! We stayed 2 nights in site 40, on the lake; water and electricity but no sewer. Concrete pad, needed 1 block to level. Lake view is a little obstructed from the site we stayed at, but will definitely go back! Lots of trees and privacy, a lake, and walking trails. Cabins, showers are both a little outdated, but clean. Well a couple of spider webs shouldn't discourage you...

      Mostly peaceful

You have to carry your stuff to your camp site as people have already said. Ownership is nice and helpful. You can buy a small bundle of wood for $5. Stayed in the little A frame cabin. Port-o-potties are clean and there is a shower and a sink. I also had good service the whole time(verizon.)

      Will camp here again

I am a beginning solo tent camper with a lot to learn. Percy Quin is a nice state run campground. Some sites are closer together and less shaded than others. It rained and most sites seem to have decent drainage with no puddles. Not all sites have grills or fire pits. There is a laundry room and the bathrooms next to that are air conditioned-not sure about all of them.

      Even in the Rain

We have stayed here several times, but this was our first time during torrential rain fall! We stayed in site 108 in the new full hookup section. The pad was gravel, needed 2 blocks to level it. Our 30 ft camper fit,but not our truck. We had to park kind of sideways. After it rained, it was horrible at this site - red clay mud all around it! I still gave a 4 star rating because the park itself was beautiful. New pier, very clean showers and bathrooms.

      Clear Springs Recreation Area

      Nice family campground

$20, $13 with fed pass. 22 sites. Electric & water hookups. Dump station. Two campground loops - B: Sites 1-12, & A: Sites 13-22. Loop A is prettier that Loop B, but Loop B has more level sites which may be more suitable for larger campers. Camped at site 7 in a camper van. Large site backed against the woods with access to a hiking trail. Not much privacy between sites. Nice family campground. Sites have table, lantern post & fire ring. Picnic Area also in this rec area. Beautiful setting by the lake. Restroom/shower house needs some work. Mens shower stalls have standing water in them - possible drainage issue. Women's toilet stalls also have a similar issue due to a leaky toilet. Bugs were not too bad here in April. No AT&T & T-Mobile service at our campsite, but picked up a weak signal by the lake.

      Tunica Hills Campground

      Beautiful and unique

Loved this small quiet camp ground. It is basically hike-in, although the host is great enough to offer to haul your stuff with her 4WD atv cart. The common areas are a surprising bonus. Shower was lukewarm but portopotties are spotless. Dishwashing station and outdoor kitchen are icing on cake.

We stayed at the site “Wilson” which was incredible. If you don’t want / need electricity site #10 is tops.

      Percy Quin State Park Campground

Nice park, campground roads are narrow

Percy Quinn is a nice state park on a lake. We had a great weekend stay, and the weather was awesome, a little chilly in the mornings, but otherwise great.

Bathrooms were clean reasonably clean. There was some damage in the one I used. Amenities include a fishing pier and boat launch near the campground. The playground and swimming pool are at the day use area which is a decent drive on the other side of the park. Be sure and hike the nature trail at the north end of the park. Part of the trail is a boardwalk through the swamp(but one section is in disrepair).

Stayed in campsite#6 which is on the lake. Back-in site with asphalt parking. The picnic table has concrete around it, but there is a 2 foot gap of dirt between the asphalt parking and the concrete. There is no BBQ pit or fire ring. 15A/30A/50A, water, and sewer hookups. Site was level side to side and had a slight slope front to back. Awning faced east so we didnt get the evening sun shining underneath. The spot is relatively shaded. Nearest neighbor was at least 20 ft. Away. Roads in the park were asphalt. Campground roads were narrow and there were no signs at intersections in the campground indicting which loop to take for which campsite numbers.

Both AT&T and Verizon had weak signal(2 bars each) and slow data. No WiFi in park. Would stay here again. We camped at Percy Quin State Park in a Travel Trailer.

      Night Life

The campground is very secluded, so you get to experience the sounds of the woods at night. Clark’s Creek is nearby for superb hiking. Port-a-Potty was clean. Road in to site is narrow, but camp host very nice. Call to reserve.

      Natchez State Park Campground

      Needs some maintenance

The scenery is very nice at this campground, but they need to work on a few things before this place gets a big thumbs up. First off, the hot water heater tank broke the day after we arrived, and we had no hot shower in the B loop at all. Had to drive to the A loop to get a hot shower, but the tank there is so small, two people can barely get a decent shower before the water cools off. Not good. The trails in the park are still damaged from storms, and there seems to be no urgency to get them fixed. There is ZERO internet at the campground and no Wi-Fi either. You are about 15-20 minutes away from town. So be prepared to be bored out of your mind at this campground. We left early after going a bit stir crazy. Great place for a one nighter or if you just want to get away for a couple days.

      State Campground w/ Full Hookups

This was a stop over for us thankfully. Pads are crazy unlevel and the asphalt has worn away so they are mostly dirt/mud. Avoid the bathrooms and shower houses, they are nasty and unkept.

      First time was fun.

The primitive camping area was nice. We found a spot by the water. Go early to get a good site. Bathrooms are okay, can use more cleaning. Bath house was decent. Fishing was nice even though we didn’t catch anything.

      Already Planning a Trip Back

The campground is well taken care of. The owner rides her cart through the campsite several times a day to deliver firewood as needed. There are areas for the kids to play in the woods some of the areas are steep and they needed supervision (5&6 year old). It’s about a 10 minute drive to the wildlife management area if you are in to that. Geocaching and several trails nearby. My only suggestion for improvement would be to remove the indoor sink and install a 2nd shower in the bath house. We are already planning our trip back.

      Hometown favorite

This is the closest campground to where we live and it’s wonderful to just hook up a few miles away from home. There are brand new full hook ups with water and sewer that have been ideal. Also lots of relatively flat roads to bike on with family. There’s a new playground for the kids that our son especially likes to bike over to.
