Wonderful lakeside camping

Steep but short hike in to the lake via superior hiking trail. Quiet campsite right on the lake, with great views. Sites are in the middle of a spruce forest and are quite rooted, so make sure you have a good pad.

Lovely Lake Agnes

Two things I wished I'd done differently at this campsite. One, stayed longer. Two, brought my kayak. This place was so perfect for our last night on the trail. It's a sweet little rock peninsula jutting out into a clean, clear Lake Agnes. There are two Lake Agnes sites and you most definitely want to get on the East one as it's right on the water vs pretty far away and wooded. This site is a hot spot for campers so either get there early Thursday thru Sunday or go like we did, midweek and there was NOBODY. It was amazing. The lake was very comfortable for swimming with a nice little sloping rock entry. There were a few spots for tent pads but honestly a hammocker would do wonderfully here. Two fire pits pretty far apart as well. The latrine was a hike but that's to keep you away from the lake. You're not super far off the main trail so if you enjoy your privacy (aka skinny dipping) you might be disappointed. Otherwise, this place was a dream that I can't wait to get back to.

The campground's main attraction is direct lake access, ideal for swimming and perfect for kayaking (though you must pack in your own equipment). When is the best season to camp at Lake Agnes?

Summer is the optimal season to camp at East Lake Agnes, particularly July and August when the weather is warmest for enjoying the lake's clear waters for swimming and kayaking. The campground's lakeside location makes it especially appealing during these warmer months. Early fall can also be beautiful with changing colors, though prepare for cooler temperatures.
