Lake Gogebic County Park

On the shores of Lake Gogebic, this county-run campground operates from mid-April through mid-November with sites accommodating RVs up to 50 feet. Campers find spacious sites with rock shoreline access, though electrical hookups serve four sites each, requiring extension cords for adequate reach. The facility includes water hookups, a dump station, and a designated swimming area where bald eagles fish regularly. Sites can fill during peak summer months, particularly in August. The nearby Lake Gogebic State Park Campground provides additional camping options along the same lake. Reservations are available and recommended for summer visits.

Beautiful

This place is breathtaking. Taken care of lake with big camping sites. Only down side is the electric is stationed in the cross of for sites. So bring long extension cord. Clean swimming area along with plenty of wild life. Seen a few bald eagles fishing while there. There is a rental place north of the campgrounds to rent pontoons and the like.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Lake Gogebic County Park compare to Lake Gogebic State Park?

While both parks are located on Lake Gogebic, the County Park offers more waterfront sites with direct lake access and rock shorelines. The County Park provides electrical hookups only (no full hookups) and has no shower facilities, unlike the State Park which typically offers more developed amenities. The County Park tends to be more affordable but can get crowded during peak season. The County Park features spacious sites with some trees, though it's not heavily wooded, creating a more open camping environment compared to the State Park's typically more forested setting.

What camping facilities are available at Lake Gogebic County Park?

Lake Gogebic County Park offers spacious campsites with electrical hookups, though you'll need an extension cord as four sites share each electrical box. The campground features clean but older stone bathroom buildings without showers. There's a dump/fill station that's efficient and clean. The park has a swimming area with beach access (which may close early summer due to swimmers itch), and many sites are situated right on the lake with rock shorelines. The campground is generally affordable and provides easy access for various camping setups.

Is there a map of Lake Gogebic County Park campground?

Yes, maps of Lake Gogebic County Park are available. The official website (gogebicforestryandparks.com/lakegogebic) should provide access to campground maps and layout information. Visitors can also obtain physical maps upon arrival at the park office or entrance station. For the most current and detailed map information, it's recommended to contact Gogebic County Parks directly or check their official website before your trip.

What activities can you do while camping at Lake Gogebic?

Lake Gogebic offers excellent water recreation opportunities including swimming at the dedicated beach area, fishing, and boating. Wildlife viewing is exceptional - visitors have spotted bald eagles fishing on the lake. There's a rental place north of the campground for water equipment. The large lake provides plenty of space for water sports and relaxation. During quieter seasons, the peaceful surroundings make it perfect for nature appreciation and photography. The spacious campsites also create a good environment for socializing with fellow campers during busier periods.
